Toekenning vir persoonlikheid van die Jaar
Die Suid-Afrikaanse Miniatuurperd Genootskap kies jaarliks 'n persoon of persone wat hul reken die afgelope jaar die grootste bydrae gemaak het om die ras die meeste te bevorder . Die 2012 toekenning het die naweek te Bloemfontein plaasgevind tydens die Genootskap se Algemene jaarvergadering. Me Sonja Wasserman het die toekenning ontvang vir haar uitstekende diens die afgelope jaar, onder andere die reël van 'n baie suksesvolle skou tydens die Bloemskou en ook haar betrokkenheid by die Lente skou te Pretoria. Onder baie moeilike omstandighede het sy ook die kantoor aangeleenthede puik hanteer.Baie geluk Sonja

Geseënde Kersfees! Hierdie dag hou die bekoring in wat oor eeue heen nog dieselfde glinster bevat. Die koms van die Jesuskind word beskryf as die opkomende son en was Sy koms na die aarde nie die ligpunt in die die geskiedenis by uitnemendheid nie! Hy was die son van geregtigheid wat die donker van ons lewens met sy kruisdood uitgewis het. Hy het die lig van lewe gebring vir mense wat vir 'n doodsbestaan bestem was. In Hom was die lewe, die ewige lewe en in Hom het ons die ewige lewe gevind.Kersfees is die fees van lewe en oor dié lewe is ons bly. Daarom is Kersfees vir ons 'n vreugdefees. Hy het die opgestane Heer geword wat deur sy opstanding die feit van die ewige lewe bekragtig het. Hy is die Here wat ons lewensgang kom verander het-Hy rig ons voetstappe op die pad van vrede. Vrede met God en vrede met ons medemens.Namens die Miniatuurperd Genootskap wens ons almal 'n Geseënde Kersfees en voorspoedige 2013 toe.
The SA Miniature Horse Society once again had a display at the annual Nampo Harvest Show in Bothaville. Marius and Annie Ernst were responsible for the neat stall where visitors could get information regarding these wonderful animals. On sale were small souvenirs and jewelry with a horse theme. Each stable had a sturdy canvas which could be rolled down to protect the animals against the weather when necessary.
The MMC Stud of Chris and Marina van der Merwe provided the horses to be showed. The horses competed in the horse parade every day and were very popular with the spectators. It is amazing that each year there are spectators who have never seen the miniature horses before.
A big thank you too Marius and Annie Ernst and their daughters Marina and Marlise van der Merwe, who worked at the stall for 4 days. They kept the miniature horses' name high by patiently answering all the thousands of questions over and over.
The Nampo Harvest Day is an important display window for the SA Miniature Horse seeing that people from all over the country as well as our neighboring countries and even people from abroad visit this big event.
Die SA Miniatuurperd Genootskap het in Mei vanjaar weereens 'n uitstalling van Miniatuurperde aangebied by die jaarlikse Nampo Oesdag te Bothaville.Marius en Annie Ernst was verantwoordelik vir die Miniatuurperde se netjiese stalletjie waar besoekers meer inligting oor hierdie wonderlike diere kon kry. Daar was ook klein aandenkings en juweliersware met 'n perdetema te koop. Elke perdestal het 'n stewige seil wat afgerol kan word om die perde teen wind en weer te beskerm indien nodig.
Die MMC Stoet van Chris en Marina van der Merwe het gesorg vir die perde wat uitgestal is. Tydens die perdeparade elke dag het die perde opgetree in 'n vertoning wat groot byval gevind het by die toeskouers. Dit is verstommend dat daar elke jaar nog steeds besoekers is wat hierdie perdjies vir die eerste keer sien.
Baie dankie aan Marius en Annie Ernst, hul dogter Marlise en Marina van der Merwe wat die vier dae diens gedoen het by die Miniatuurperde se stalletjie. Hulle het gesorg dat die Miniatuurperde se naam hoog gehou is deur geduldig die duisende nuuskieriges se vrae oor en oor te beantwoord.
Die Nampo Oesdag bly 'n belangrike uitstalvenster vir die SA Miniatuurperde omdat mense van oor die hele land, ons buurlande en selfs die buiteland die groot geleentheid besoek.

It came to the attention of the Society that inspections are not done on a frequent basis by all members. The Societies constitution stipulate that horses must be inspected at two and a half years as well as five years. The five year inspection is free.

Tydens 'n Algemene Jaarvergadering wat op 8 Desember 2012 plaasgevind het is daar besluit dat alle merries ook ge-DNS moet word. Daar word 'n grasie periode gegee en sal in werking tree op 1 Januarie 2014. Dit bring ook mee dat van 1 Januarie 2014 allgeboortes wat aangeteken word se ouers moet bevestig word met DNS. Tertius en Alida le Roux het Agri-Mega vanaf 13 tot 15 September 2012 namens die Genootskap bygewoon. Dit was 'n reuse sukses gewees en ons nooi lede uit om ook te kom deelneem aan hierdie uitstalling. Uit die perdjie se bek
Training ShowTraining ShowIn preparation for The Spring show to be held in the beginning of September 2012, a training show was held on Thursday 9 August at Afgri Farm City in Pretoria. A special thanks to Afgri who gave us the use of their facility completely free of charge. It is greatly appreciated. Brian Noaks who did the judging on the day did a great job. He gave us valuable advice on how to present our horses to judges and also on how to bring the best out of our horses as far as presentation and preparation was concerned. He was also kind enough to give us a crash course on horse conformation and what the judges will be looking for. It was a job well done and our thanks to Brian who gave up his time during the holiday to assist us.
Then a special thanks to Welma Joubert for being the announcer yet again. It was as always, very well done. Hennie Swart who offered his farrier services on the day and also gave us a very good run down on how to do your horse's feet if need be. He also gave some pointers on what to look for if a farrier is doing your horse's feet. Thank you Hennie and Welma, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you to our organizers Paul and Juanita. When they started this idea I made it very clear that the only thing I will be able to contribute is the criticizing. It was very well done and they are welcome to do it again, any time. They even remembered the rosettes and the numbers. Well done! SA Horse feeds sponsored four bags of speedy and sugarbeet horse feed and we appreciate the gesture. Juanita and Jewel also gave us a nice demonstration on jumping your horse and Jewel really enjoyed it. It was a pleasure to watch.
Then of course the most important people of the day, the exhibitors and their horses. The freezing cold weather of the two previous days had us all scurrying around and we even considered postponement of the event, but thanks to the enthusiasm of the mini-owners, it was decided that the show will go on. All the horses arrived, cuddled up in warm blankets but luckily the weather improved and we had a warm day where our horses could be shown to their advantage. We had four classes, fillies and colts under two years old and then mares and stallions over two years of age. We had a practice run to start with and straight after that the judge, Brian guided us on how to improve our horsemanship and he gave us some pointers. After a second round, prizes were awarded. There was a friendly atmosphere and camaraderie amongst the exhibitors and we enjoyed the day with our lovely horses.
MINIATURE HORSES AT WODAC
WODAC , world of dogs and cats, was held at Gallagher estate this year. It'was a mid July three day event attracting some 20 000 people. By invitation from Equine SA horses attended the Gauteng event for the first time this year. Horses, like dogs and cats, are acknowledged as important animals that interact with people. It is intended that horses will become a permanent attraction at WODAC events. People showed great interest in the three Miniature horses at the show and the breed did itself proud in displaying those attributes that makes it so popular. The horses were well behaved and sometimes very

Miniature Horse participated in various events. There was a daily arena appearance with the 4 other horses, all noteworthy imported stallions. There was also a fashion parade where, with a bit of coaxing, we got the horses onto the ramp with the models. The most popular aspect was where the general public could touch and interact with the horses. It was for many people their first contact with horses and a positive experience.

15 - 17 February 2013P L E A S E N O T E T H E F O L L O W I N G IMPORTANT POINTS. No horses without a passport will be allowed at Horse of the Horse of The Year Show. Each horses Passport nr will be the reference for his entry and the reference for his temporary registration with the Gauteng Horse Society. The GHS require the date off inoculation as well as the inoculant codes for African Horse sickness ( both injections) and for equine influenza to appear on the passport. It is the responsibility of each breeder to measure his own horse and for the measurement to appear, together with the date measured, on the registration documents for the horse. Entries close on January 2013. The classes and entries are to be found on the miniature Horse website . Attached to the newsletter you will also find a hard copy for the classes, showing rules and entry form.
