Answer the questions. ① “Do you choose something fashionable

… or comfortable?” What is another word or expression for something?

② “But the number of these big name companies… ” What big name companies?

④ “ But that’s not the point.” What isn’t the point? And what is the point the writer is making?

The less well-known companies’ clothes don’t sell as well as “designer” clothes.

That well-known trainers can’t make you better at sport– people believe the well known trainers can.

Note: Care about 意思是“介意,关注”。例如:Now more and more people care about the environment.The only thing he seems to care about is money.

score.Note: 这是一个强调句,强调的是 the training ,非强调句应为: The training—not the trainers—improves your speed or your score. 强调句型的结构是: It is / was +被强调内容+ that… 如:It was Jane who helped me yesterday. It’s the colour that I like most about this jacket.

5. Above all, designer clothes are more popular because of clever advertising.

Note: 这里 above all 的意思是“尤其是;最重要的是”。例如:And above all, don’t forget to write to us when you get there.It’s important to eat plenty of the right things, above all, fruit and vegetables.

6. Most people dress in a way that shows off their personality.

Note: That shows off their personality 在句中做定语,修饰名词 a way 。Show off 表示“炫耀;显示”。例如:Jiajia couldn’t wait to show off his new car to his friends.Please stop showing off – we all know how rich you are!
