We want to send you a birthday greeting! [email protected] Good Wednesday morning Ladies, I want to begin by saying, “Thank You ” and to express how much we, your TBMA officers, appreciate and covet your prayers. We would ask that you continue to keep us lifted up in prayer, as we are working hard to bring you an excellent conference in 2018 that will meet as many of your needs and interests as possible. That is why I will next ask you to please send in your annual dues of $35 (for renewing members) and $45 (for new members). These dues are so important as they go to help support your conferences which are designed with you in mind. When you attend a conference, you will find it is a wonderful time to get away, make new friends, be encouraged and spiritually refreshed, gain new and fresh ideas, and receive training for your every- day challenges right there in your office. The first conference I attended, I must confess, was not by my choosing. My boss at that time said, “You are going!” I actually had said “no” the first couple of years. I must say, I was so glad I was not given a choice that time! That being said, I would like to encourage your boss to say to you, “You are going!” And I encourage you to join us at the 2018 Confer- ence. You will both be glad you did! BGCT 2016 November 13-15 We set your booth up on Sunday then had lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Waco! We were back early in the evening to meet all the pastors, ministers, messengers and vendors, along with many other guests. We were also at your booth early on Monday and Tuesday mornings hand- ing out brochures, coffee stix and lots of chocolate candy! We were very pleased to meet and greet so many folks from our Texas churches and other Baptist entities. They know what a great job you do and were very appreciative of your service to our Lord through your ministry. They gladly signed you up for a chance at winning a FREE registration to our 2018 TBMA Conference. Our adventure into 2017...

Preparation One of my favorite devotional authors is Ann Voskamp. Recently she tweeted “You aren’t taken aback by what you’ve taken time to prepare for.” While it bothers my OCD-ness that she ended this statement in a preposition, it is a good thought. We want you to know that your TBMA officer team is in preparation mode! We have decided on a site and are anxious to tell you all about it at Nationals in April. In fact, it’s so exciting, it’s pretty hard

keeping it a secret! We met three times last year after being appointed by you at the TBMA Conference in San Antonio. We have met twice in a cute little house in Waco…Waco is an equal distance for the four of us to drive and meet together to plan for the 2018 Confer-ence. The first meeting in Waco was our first meeting with the team, and let me assure you…God has put this team together with just the right personalities, the right blend of strengths and weaknesses, and the right amount of fun and seriousness! The second meeting was in a secret location as we made site visits to several hotels…what a crazy, busy weekend that was! Our third meeting was in Waco again when we attended the BGCT Annual Conference in November. And there have been plenty of emails and texts flying between the four of us, as you can imagine. Every meeting time is spent in discussion about and preparation for you and for our 2018 Conference. We don’t want to be “taken aback” by anything unexpected in April 2018. We want to have all our i’s dotted and our t’s crossed. That takes an extreme amount of organization, brainstorming, designing, and…preparation. And PRAYER…we pray every time we meet that the Lord will guide and direct our planning so that we have the conference HE has planned for each of you. He knows your needs, and we want Him to lead us to help meet those needs. Please join us in this prayer. Whenever you think of TBMA (which we hope is often!), say a prayer for your team of officers.

2017 Nationals Information

Each new year I start to think about the past year...the good things that happened, the not so good, the challenges I had, and the new people who were added to my life. In 2016 I was blessed with the oppor-tunity to serve as an officer for TBMA. Although I have been going to conferences for many years, I really didn't know what being an officer would be like. I had many ladies explain what was expected of me along with a written job description in great detail. I received wonderful encouragement from the previous officers as we met together and visited on the phone. I knew I would have documents to guide me and that I could follow instructions, so I wasn't worried at the task before me. After the first meeting with our new officers, I was overwhelmed! Why? Because I knew God had put me with these women for so many reasons. When you lose the pastor of your church, and you are the pastor's secretary, sometimes there is so much grief, hurt, and a lot of emotional pain. You persevere and get through one day at a time, because your church needs you to be strong more than ever during this time. But inside, you’re still hurting! At the time this was happening to me, God gave me this group of three other women in my life. Women of God who have also

been through some very tough stuff! Ministry is hard sometimes, but we know God is with us. However, we all have feelings and because we are human and sin is involved, hurt people, hurt people. I found it very hard to watch the men of God whom I loved and admired so much, be hurt. Last year, I was at a crossroads in making several decisions in my life. I really wanted to be open to whatever God had for me. It was about 2 weeks after that when I received a call about the possibility of becoming a TBMA officer. I just said, and kept on saying, “God, if you need me, open the door. If not, just close it.” I am so glad that God opened that door for me. I really had no idea what being an officer would entail, but I am learning more and more as we continue our journey together. We work very hard when we meet. We pray, we laugh, we cry, and we encourage each other. If God opens the door for you to become a TBMA officer in the future, please realize He has something very special in store for you. You would work with some great ladies with whom He wants you to bond, work, encourage, and love. I look forward to 2017 in a huge way as we meet for the NASBS Conference in April, in SC. We get to announce our Texas 2018 Conference site to all of you! You are going to love it! Thank you so much for allowing me to serve as your Secretary/Treasurer for TBMA.

Diane Peacock

“God is good, all the time!” You have heard that said many times, but it’s true! God is our Abba, Father. He’s our great Provider. He pursues us even when we are not particularly pursuing Him or holy living. Have you ever wondered where you would be today without your personal relation-ship with the God of the Universe? Yes, that’s the One. He spoke the universe into being and He speaks to His children in that same voice. I have an idea the first voice was a bit louder and stronger, but His gentle voice can be firm with us too. I have been the recipient of that still, small voice and yes, He’s had to get “loud” with me at times as well. I never get up in the morning desiring to disappoint my Abba. I want to please Him in every way, but I get busy doing “His” work at the church. I get distracted by family crises or life in general and find myself “putting out fires” as it were instead of focusing on Him. This New Year, I have not made any resolutions, but I am trying to control my circumstances instead of being controlled by them. I’m trying to put my Abba first, and be controlled by the Holy Spirit. I believe my Father is pleased when His children love and respect Him. And I believe with all my heart that “God is good, all the time!” I pray that you will have a blessed year, pleas-ing your Abba, Father as a TBMA Ministry Assistant.
