during the last four years.Access to current and comprehensive information is important to improveteaching and learning activities. The central library has adopted a well-denedcollection development policy and weeding policy so as to maintain an active,current and a balanced collection.

/ublishers $atalogue $ourse 0yllabus and +oo's on approval: The publishers catalogue and boo'reviews received in the library are periodically circulated to the concerned departments and the

recommended boo's are received on approval through local vendors for selection by the faculty!

The online catalogue of publishers and #-shopping sites are regularly browsed to get information

on latest editions of boo's for collection development!

The library receives boo's on approval from local vendors on regular basis! The boo's aredisplayed for a period of one wee' in the library and the concerned faculty is informed about thearrival for selection!

+oo' )air and e1hibition - The central library conducts boo' fair and e1hibition wherein a set ofreputed boo' publishers and distributors are invited to display the recently published boo's! This

helps the faculty and students for active participation in recommending boo's for collection

development!

2ew Arrivals display - The current titles purchased by the library are regularly displayed for aperiod of seven days and the list of new additions is circulated to individual departments! Apart from

that the scanned image of cover page of newly arrived boo's are displayed on the L$( panelsinstalled in selective locations within the college campus!

#-mailing - The central library periodically sends updates on the list of new arrivals and informationon the use of 2-L"0T and (#L2#T resources through #-mail thus ensuring the optimum use of

reading resources!

Requisitions - The central library regularly entertains requisitions for boo's journals maga%ines

and other reading materials from staff and students and acquires them at the earliest!All these measures enable the users to 'now the current title added in the library and also enhance

their 30#!

Reading list !ibliography compilation: The library regularly practices monthly display and

circulation of the list of new boo's acquired by the library! +ased on the demand from the usersselective list on specific topics and subjects are also generated through the library automation

To widen the use of boo's the central library has introduced boo'-ban' facility for different user

categories! #very year separate budget is allocated for the purchase and the boo's are issued onyearly basis individually as well under group boo'-ban'!
