Our 10am service commences with this hymn 1. There’s a wideness in God’s mercy, like the wideness of the sea; there's a kindness in his justice, which is more than liberty. 2. There is no place where earth’s sorrows and more felt than up in heaven; there is no place where earth’s failings have such kindly judgement given. 3. But we make his love too narrow by false limits of our own; and we magnify his strictness with a zeal he will not own. 4. There is plentiful redemption in the blood that has been shed, there is joy for all the members in the sorrows of the Head. 5. For the love of God is broader than the scope of human mind, and the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind. 6. If our love were but more simple, we should take him at his word; and our hearts would find assurance in the promise of the Lord. The model adopted in 1992 when the Anglican Church revised its constitution was designed to ‘provide for the three partners to order their affairs within their own cultural context’. It was seen by many in the Church at the time as a way of honouring the Treaty of Waitangi. So Te Pouhere Sunday was designated by General Synod to celebrate our life as a three Tikanga Church. Today we gather as the people of God to celebrate our unity as a Three Tikanga Church: Maori, Pakeha and Pasefika. We also celebrate our unity with fellow Christians around the Pacific Ocean, giving thanks for their witness to God who knows no boundaries of race, language, politics or tradition.

The Confession and Absolution / Te Hohou-i-te-rongo Please sit.

Priest Let us then open ourselves to the Lord and confess our sins in penitence and faith. [Silence]We are not always the people we would like to be. We are coming to recognise that we carry many forms of personal prejudice, and that many of our processes and organisations are incapable of carrying reliable sustained justice for indigenous peoples.

All We claim to be a community of grace and love, but we sometimes fail to care compassionately and unreservedly for those who are different to us.

Priest God is faithful to us to the end of time. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. Forgive us, O God, and restore us to right relationships, with all who suffer injustice. Thanks be to God.

All Amen.

The Gloria is sung, as a cry of thanksgiving to God.

All Glory to God in the highest, and peace to God’s people on earth. Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father, we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory.

Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father, Lord God, Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world: have mercy on us; youare seated at the right hand of the Father: receive our prayer.

For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

The Collect – Gathering Prayer – is said together / Hei konei te inoi o te rä

All Creator God, you make the sun to give light in the day, the moonand the stars for guidance at night, you divided the seas making a path through the waters. Grant that, sailing out in our canoes of Tikanga Pākehā, Tikanga Māori, and Tikanga Pasefika, we may follow the way you have charted for us and from our separate home ports find our common destination in you. We askthis through your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen

Please be seated for the Readings / Nga Karaipiture – E noho

Reader A Reading from the book of the Prophet Isaiah [chapter 42:10-20]Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the end of the earth!Let the sea roar and all that fills it, the coastlands and their inhabitants. Let the desert and its towns lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar inhabits; let the inhabitants of Sela sing for joy, let them shout from the tops of the mountains. Let themgive glory to the Lord, and declare his praise in the coastlands. The Lord goes forth like a soldier, like a warrior he stirs up his fury;he cries out, he shouts aloud, he shows himself mighty against his foes. For a long time I have held my peace, I have kept still and restrained myself; now I will cry out like a woman in labour, I will gasp and pant. I will lay waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbage;I will turn the rivers into islands, and dry up the pools. I will lead the blind by a road they do not know, by paths they have not known I will guide them.I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I will do, and I will not forsake them. They shall be turned back and utterly put to shame— those who trust in carved images, who say to cast images, ‘You are our gods.’ Listen, you that are deaf; and you that are blind, look up and see! Who is blind but my servant, or deaf like my messenger whom I send?Who is blind like my dedicated one, or blind like the servant of the Lord? He sees many things, but does not observe them; his ears are open, but he does not hear.

Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church.

For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them.

From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us.

Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church.

All Thanks be to God.At 10am we sing this hymn in preparation for the Gospel

Reader Hear the Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, according to St Luke [chapter 6:46-49]

All (Sung at the 10am Service) Praise and Glory to God. ‘Why do you call me “Lord, Lord”, and do not do what I tell you? I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them. That one is like a man building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when a flood arose, the river burst against that house but could not shake it,because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, immediately it fell, and great was the ruin of that house.’

This is the Gospel of Christ.

All (Sung at the 10am Service) Praise to Christ the Word.

O Master, grant that I may never seek, so much to be consoled as to console,to be understood, as to understand, to be loved, as to love with all my soul.

On that night before he died he took bread and gave you thanks. He broke it, gave it to his disciples, and said:Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you; do thisto remember me. After supper, he took the cup, and gave you thanks. He gaveit to them and said: Drink this. It is my blood of the new covenant, shed for you, shed for all, to forgive sin; do this to remember me. Therefore with this bread and wine we recall your goodness to us.
