Construction of the campus is in its final stages and on schedule. On 5 July, government authorities will begin the

inspection and certification process. This long and comprehensive process includes, but is not limited to, the inspection of the quality of construction, electrical systems, fire extinguishing systems, landscape, air quality, and every minute aspect of the campus. This process should be completed by 10 August, after which the school will receive certification and approval. We will also begin a thorough cleaning of the school buildings and campus by the end of July.

Many parents have asked us about our safety and security measures, especially on the road in front of the school’s

main gate. There is concern from parents that the traffic from the local driving school is a safety concern for Keystone students. Let us assure you that we have already addressed this issue in our comprehensive Security Operation Plan.

Seven security wardens will be assigned during peak hours to guide students and ensure their safety. Two wardens each will be assigned on each side of the crossroad and three wardens at the main gate.

We request parents to inform their children to follow the instructions of the security wardens, especially while crossing the road, and during drop-off and pick-up. Meanwhile, we have contacted the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau in Shunyi and notified them of our concern.

在“鼎石圈”，不少家长问及学校周边的交通安全问题，这也是鼎石筹备办公室关注的重点之一，并已纳

入我们的安全保障计划。

有家长提到目前学校门前道路是驾校的机动车驾照路考及练习路段，担心孩子的安全——请放心，我们已通知当地交管部门，正与他们协商解决方案，以保证学生的安全通行。

另外，在学生上学、放学等通行高峰时间，我们会组织安保人员在学校正门及十字路口指挥交通。也恳请家长告知自己的孩子，通行该路段时，请务必听从指挥。

Keystone Academy has an extensive and comprehensive Security Operation Plan. Par-ents can be rest assured that their children will be safe.

鼎石选用业内最专业的机构，为所有学生及教职员工提供全方位的优质安全保障计划。校园安防体系由亚洲最大的国际安保业务领袖Certis Cisco(策安安保)负责设计。Certis Cisco主要为大中型的公共机构，如机场、大学、国际学校等，提供安防体系的设计及运营服务。鼎石安保服务则由拥有丰富涉外机构安保经验的北京忠诚卫士保安服务公司(Risk Control) 提供，该公司客户群体包括各大驻华使馆、全球500强企业及众多国际学校。同时，学校的监控、门禁

系统采用业界领先的霍尼韦尔（Honeywell）全系产品。

Keystone Academy will be providing a school bus service. But some parents may

prefer to drop off and pick up their children in their own cars. We have safety regulations, within our Security Operation Plan, on this matter. Private cars can park along the street near the main gate under the supervision and management of the assigned security wardens. Parents are kindly requested to follow the instructions of the security wardens to ensure the safety and security of students and themselves. Personal cars are not allowed on campus for the safety and security of students.

All enrolled families have been sent bus survey forms to assess how many students need the Keystone bus service and their

location. The bus service survey is now complete. The bus service kit, including bus sign-up form, bus stops, and bus-use policy, has been sent by post on 3 July.

Please be informed that only one pick-up and drop-off address can be registered for each student. For any further queries about our bus service, please write to transportation@keystoneacademy.cn

Hot and Cold 饮用水：专业过滤 热水自备

Keystone provides purified tap water. The purification system is on campus. However

hot water will not be provided, as it is a safety hazard for all our students. If a student prefers hot water, a hot water flask can be brought from home, but the student will be responsible for it.

鼎石校内的饮用水都经过专业过滤系统净化，符合饮用纯净水标准。出于安

全考虑，学校不为学生提供开水。需要温水或开水的学生，请自带保温水壶。

The school caterer – Eurest – will provide appropriate meals for each grade.

Boarders will be given three meals and will have additional snack breaks. Day scholars will be provided with lunch. Early primary year students will have additional snack breaks. Because of this, lunches brought from home will not be refunded in any way. But students are free to bring lunch from home, with the restriction of nuts and nut products. Information on special dietary requirements for respective students has been collected and will be managed accordingly.

为了照顾鼎石中国和外籍师生，学校餐饮将采用中西结合，兼顾孩子身

体成长期的营养需求。我们为寄宿生提供三餐饮食及夜宵；为走读生提供午餐；低年级学生将有专门的“点心时间”。有特殊饮食需求和宗教习惯的学生，请务必提前告知我们。我们将与校方餐饮公司协商， 尽力满足学生的合理要求。

如有需要，学生可以自带食物来学校。学生之间可能会互相共享食物，因此为防止他人产生食物过敏反应，请不要将坚果类食品以及可能含有坚果的食品带到学校。另，自带午餐的学生，餐费不予返还。

There is always a dorm parent on duty in the dorm day or night. There is also a nurse on call 24 hours

a day. Parents should expect their children to go through transition issues when students become boarders. Homesickness is common and Keystone dorm parents are on hand to help students deal with this. Students can knock on a teacher’s door at any hour for help of any kind, emergency or otherwise. Every student will have a roommate as well and these new friends will serve as a source of comfort and help. Parents and children should talk about their concerns and fears regarding living away from home before 23 August when the students move into the dorm. These issues can be raised with Wendy Bradley, Dean of Student Life, or Juli James, Director of Residential Life and Global Initiatives.

务的护士。对于即将到来的寄宿生活，家长应相信孩子能平稳度过这个时期，成为一名合格的寄宿生。寄宿期间，有些学生会有点想家，这很常见。如有需要，宿舍家长会为寄宿生提供必要的心理辅导和帮助。学生有任何问题，可以随时去找宿舍家长寻求帮助。住在同一宿舍的新朋友们也可以彼此安慰、互相帮助。在8月23日开学离家前，家长应当先与孩子谈一谈，问问他们对寄宿生活有何忧虑，是否感到害怕，以及孩子关心的其他问题。寄宿生活开始后，学生生活主任Wendy Bradley以及寄宿生活及全球行动总监Juli James也会就如何适应寄宿生活等话题与学生们一起讨论，帮助他们更好地适应在校学习及生活。

Some parents have inquired about deferring their acceptance to Keystone. Here is what our admission application policy states:

Admission acceptances are granted for a specific year of entry, and are not transferable to a subsequent year. The Admission Office may entertain requests to defer an acceptance for one year only if space becomes available, and if the family provides updated student documentation. However, Keystone cannot guarantee such deferral. After more than one year, a student will have to re-apply.

Therefore, if a student is unable to enroll in any particular year, they will need to formally request a deferral, and will need to provide the admission office with updated information the following year. If, however, there is no space available in the class, we may not be able to enroll the student. For example, if a grade one applicant decided not to enroll and asked for a deferral to grade two, we would fill that grade one opening with someone from our waitlist. We would only be able to offer the family who chose to defer a space in grade two if one of the enrolled grade one students decided not to return to the school the following year. Each year current families will be asked to re-enroll their children in February, so that the admission office knows how many openings are available for applicant families, including those who choose to defer.

Deferring for One Year 延期入学 关于延期入学的内容，我们的招生政策有如下说明:

“入学资格申请审查通过后只在入学

当年有效，不能自动转入第二年。

如果名额充足，并且家长可以提供最

新的学生资料，招生部门可以考虑受

理延期一年入学的申请。然而，我校

并不能保证此类延期。超过一年的延

期，学生必须重新申请。”

如果学生无法如期入学，必须要向学校招生办公室提出正式申请，并在次年入学时补充最新的申请材料。如果第二年招生名额已满，学生将无法入学。举例说明：如果学生在一年级申请延期入学至二年级入学。学生一年级名额将由其他申请候选人补上。第二年需重新申请入学，如班级无空缺，学生将无法入学。

Cabin Fever 寄宿“恐惧症”

It is certainly our hope that the students who come to Keystone will stay with us through

graduation. If, however, a student decides ito transfer from Keystone, we will do everything we can to support their move to another school.

我们希望来到鼎石的每位学生会一直在这里学习，直到毕业。但是，如果学生有

办理转学的需求，我们也会尽力协助学生办理相关手续。每年二月，招生办公室都会要求已注册的学生办理下一学年的注册手续。因此，如果学生需要办理转学，应在此期间及时提出申请，以便学校制定下一步的招生及教学 计划。

Our registrar, Julius Berman, makes sure the academic clerical routines of the school run smoothly. He works closely with

Admissions, IT, and the Heads of Divisions. The registrar also updates course offerings, schedules classes and co-curricular activities, tracks student progress and IB requirements, and makes grades and comments available to families. The registrar also tracks all your child’s hard work at Keystone in a permanent record. When your child eventually applies to university abroad, the registrar sends out her/his transcript to those schools.

The first mail pack has been sent from the registrar on 3 July. This has important forms that need to be filled out and submitted at the very latest, by the time your children arrive on campus in late August. Also included is a request for official student records from your child’s previous school. This is essential to complete a student’s acceptance into Keystone.
