Dear Parents

The day is nearly upon us.

The Country Fair is this Saturday, 9am to 3pm. Regardless of the

weather (we could get a little rain) the day will go ahead and we’re

anticipating big crowds.

The list attached is an indication of just how many people work

together to make the Country Fair such a great event. These

names are entered in a raffle for a night in Sydney so if your

name's missing and should be on there please let me know so that I

can include it before Saturday. With so many volunteers, we’re

bound to have missed someone.

Thank you to the many people also who have delivered items for

sale to our front office. Our stalls will be brimming with great

treats and things to sell.

Just a few reminders before the big day;

If you can spare fruit for the fruit salads, please drop this

at the office on Friday (tomorrow).

Please return all raffle ticket stubs and unsold tickets to

the office on Friday (tomorrow).

We start the setting up Friday (tomorrow). If you can help

with set up or pack up, please ring Sally Parsons

(0428371549) to find out how best you can help.

Please organise fine weather for the day. :)

Good luck to our 40 swimmers who compete at District level

representing our school at the District Swimming Carnival on

Friday.

P & C NEWS

Tuesday the 14th February was our first meeting for

the year.

This week’s gold stars go to all the new faces who

attended our meeting for the year. It is really great to

have new people attend our meetings.

New people bring new ideas and fresh energy.

The Eglinton Country Fair is on the 23rd February.

Please go to the front office to sign up to donate some

time on the day. It is not too late. The Country Fair is

our major fund raiser for the year. The money raised on

the day goes directly back into the school to benefit our

children.

CRUNCH & SIP NEWS 2013

Our whole school is again committed this year to

improving our children’s health through education

and by supporting the Department of Health’s

Crunch & Sip initiative. Thank you to our parents

and carers for your continued support by providing a

water bottle and fruit/vegetables each for this.

Research has shown that eating these foods is not

only good for our children’s health but helps

concentration throughout the day. I have added a list

of suitable foods allowed for Crunch & Sip. You can

also visit the Crunch & Sip website at

www.crunchandsip.com.au for further information.

Kids Lit Quiz

Last Wednesday four students; Graison Barratt, Tom

Egan-Maranda, Charlize Kerr and Mia McPherson

travelled to Kinross Wolaroi School, Orange to compete

in the Literacy Quiz competition against 18 other

teams. Teams were asked10 questions in ten different

literary categories by Quiz Master Wayne Mills.

In the end only one point separated the top four teams.

Running equal in 2nd place resulted in a tie-breaker

round. Eglinton finished in 4th place with McCarthur

Anglican School being victorious in the end.

Congratulations to our team for a great effort. A photo

will be in next weeks newsletter.
