My name is Nicholas
Lozano, I love animals, I
don’t speak unless spoken
too because a powerful
voice must be maintained
I am a part of Pechanga a branch of the Luiseño. Our people lived
in kiisha’s, we grinded acorns into Wii ‘wish (acorn mush), and just
survived. The great oak was never a part of the reservation before
it used to be on the land of a man. One-‐day people sought to take
the great oak out build electrical towers to transmit power to the
cities. But we fought for the tree and made the land around it a
part of our reservation.
Diabetes there is two
types but I don’t want to
get into too much detail. I
still learned how to make
better decisions and take
an apple over a cookie.
The anatomy lab was an interesting look at the human body. The leg slightly disturbed me
and I do not wish to mess with other peoples bodies. The heart and brain were more
reasonable for me since I have been exposed to these kinds of things ever since I was a child.
The exercise was nothing to me, every day in P.E. we would do sit ups, push-‐ups, jog,
etc. so it was like a walk in the park for me
HEALTH SCIENCE at WESTERN
My second drum was fun I
suppose; my first drum had fewer
holes than this one, it had a
deeper beat than my other one.
My brothers had clapper sticks, so this
one was more fun being able to cut the
wood off and sanding off, reminded me of
my old workshop class where I had to
sand down my wood every day.
I may be looking into going into western for its
veterinary school but first there is undergrad I
As a fly I would have been honored to observe the operation of my cat. Some time ago my cat had a urinary blockage and would not drink and could not urinate. The doctors flushed the blockage out of his system and he was able to drink freely and urinate, with a little blood though. Working with medicine is important, I wish to become an animal doctor, and to see how they handled an experience like it would be invaluable. Perhaps the personal experience would help me understand how fragile life is and how it can end so easily. Learning how the movements of a procedure works can train my mind and show me how they handle it. My cat is still living his life by my side and I love him still. He drinks his water and he urinates regularly, it warms my heart and soothes me to know that he will live a little longer. If I had not been there when he had been moaning he would have died. I have made some friends; even I don’t know who is a friend of mine.
The mentors were nice, nicer than I thought I guess.
I’m sure I will miss all of this, perhaps. I will
attempt to remember the fun parts of this
experience but I am still not mature
enough for this kind of stuff
Why did I come? I don’t know why I did I just felt like it, but now I am ready to leave now.
Even I am not sure
how this program
impacted me I feel
no different except
knowing more
things about other
cultures and my
own.
