- Chair for rest and recreation -

The project is based on the problem of the increasing oc-currence of stress in modern society. By converting know-ledge about stress-enhancing and stress-reducing factors into specific qualities in a furniture it has succeeded to make a recreational frame. This project focuses especially on the increased sense sensitivity and a need for physical contact with others which can halve the level of stress. The project also has a focus on materiality and spaciousness, which also affects the psychological well-being.

- Own firm, interior design -

In parallel with the studies I started the firm OBJEKTER to create a link between theory and business. OBJEKTER works with the minimalistic expression, where the product consists of elementary geometric shapes. By focusing on the simple shapes as building blocks it creates intuitive and honest products.

The act of starting a design firm from scratch provides an invaluable professional experience and strengthens the sense of reality. My skills are thereby strengthened in e.g. sales, marketing, financial viability, production, packa-ging, law, rights, market participation, commerciality, pro-totyping, development, optimization and implementation in relation to production methods.

- For exhibition of procucts from OBJEKTER -

In the context of the design firm OBJEKTER I designed a stand to FINDERS KEEPERS designfair in Aarhus (19th to 20th March 2016), Copenhagen (16th to 17th April 2016) and future exhibitions. This was developed within the limited stand space.

The following criteria for the stand was given:

• Stand area of 2x2 m (divided into storage and exhibition)• Low budget - but quality materials• Reusable• Must be able to be flatpacked• Must be assembled by one person• For three wall-mounted products• Minimalistic• Transforming posibilities• Space for one person

The three walls each exhibit one product and fits into the oak frame. The milled tracks allows the walls to be slided around as needed for each exhibition.

- Design proposals to medium/high-end designshop -

This project contains four interior design proposals for the spring and summer collection of 2017 to a design shop. The designs are created from my own trends presentation and colour chart.

A. KANT is the name of this interpretation of the traditional box for small decorative items. KANT consists of six wooden boxes which can be assembled to one big square with a rubber band.

B. ORBIT is the name for this product that represent the solar System. The 8 rings represents the planetary orbits, the 8 small balls represents the planets and the big ball represent the sun.

C.VALO means “light” in finnish and is the name on the small tealight holder. The smart storage function in the lower part se-cures that there always is an extra tealight nearby.

D. PLANT COLLECTION is a development of the occurring plant-trend. It frames each plant and is smart in small apartments with a minimum of floor space.

- Design proposal for a convenience store -

This project contains four design proposals for a convenience store. The theme was “table setting” with a twist of nudging the host through table-setting process.

The four designs to the convenience store differs from the four designs to the design shop. The diffference is seen in the mate-riality, the style and the colours. This shows an adaptability to the recipients.

A. This napkin creates a different experience for the user be-cause of a folding guide printed on the napkin.

B. These flowers of plexiglas is an easy way to create decorative table decorations. The round pieces can be put together in many different ways which creates abstract and transparent flowers.

C. This plate marks the healthy Y-model which indicates a divi-sion of food in three. 1/5 should be protein, 2/5 should be carbo-hydrate and the last 2/5 should be fruit and vegetables.

D. The placemat shows where the service should be placed co-rect on the table.

- Carpenter in Vejle -

To expand my professional understanding of wood and ex-amine the possibilities of the material I took leave of ab-sence for a semester to work as a cabinet maker at South-ern College in Vejle.

The course was incredibly exciting and instructive and gave a significant understanding of production processes and techniques which is a huge force, as it is essential to incorporate this in the design process. This gives a realistic picture of production prices in relation to working hours and which solutions best can be implemented in a produc-tion. To be able to create fully correct technical drawings and to use the correct technical terms, was a big part of the education. This makes future cooperations and communi-cation with manufacturers easier.

The course’s practical approach with machines and phy-sics also means that it is natural for me to quickly trans-form speech and drawings into action.

- FSC Design Award 2014 -

Based on the common theme “storage” I developed the magazine holder Archive for organizing of e.g. documents, newspapers, magazines, mail, bills and drawings.

Archive is inspired by the traditional archive folder of cardboard. The new materiality and fixed placement on the wall makes it easy accessible and ensures a deliberate se-lection of the most important documents. When the leather strap is released, Archive opens due to a movement around a rotation point. In the closed position Archive appears as a box where the beautiful oak is in focus. By unfolding Ar-chive the petrol blue felt appears as an aesthetic surprise.

- Freelance for logo design -

The customer for this project was a farmer who wanted a logo for his farm primarily in the context of accounting. The graphics should be simple and executed in black and white greyscale. The Logo should also work with or with-out accompanying text.

For the project was made several logo designs where the finally choice fell on a simple graphic which forms a head of a heifer from few areas. The logo expresses seriousness and creates a strong identity.

- Cocreation with inhabitants from the suburb Tilst -

The project is based on the problem of a strong grouping in the suburb Tilst. The grouping takes place both physically and mentally in building typologies in relation to cultures and backgrounds.

Through workshops with inhabitants the need for a com-mon gathering place for the groupings are clarified. Based on analyzes of the area the gathering places are strategical-ly placed on the borders of the typologies. The places are designed as 4 dynamic benches aimed equally extrovert and introvert. The benches are placed around newly plan-ted cherry trees. The planting of these trees is done with the help of 4 inhabitants from diffe-rent groupings. This creates a symbolism about solida-rity and unity in Tilst which will grow big and strong - like the trees. During the collaboration with planting the trees we used the film me-dia as documentation and communication of the message.

We also creates a graphic identity for “The New Tilst”.

- ICON: Same same, but different -

The project was based on an interpretation of old iconic furnitures. My fellow student, Aviaaaja Ezekiassen, and I chose to interpret the traditional three-legged hunting stool.

We wanted to challenge the principles of the hunting stool and take them to the limits. This is seen for example in the minimal use of material, the compactness and the choice of one single leg on the ground. The result was the portable stool A | ROUND which consists of a single round stick when folded. When the ring is pulled down to the bottom the stool is unfolded which makes a temporary seat. The minimum use of material was challenging and educa-tional. In spite of the chair’s simple expression It needed to have many small details before the design could be rea-lized.

The stool was exhibited in Salone Del Mobile in Milan as a part of the exhibition “Danish Made”. During the exhi-bition we were contacted by Louis Vuitton who was very interested in the stool in their new collection “Objets No-mades” which subsequently led to a business meeting in Paris.

- Packaging project with ARLA -

The aim of the project was to create an attractive packa-ging design that turned to children under eight years. Spe-cifically it was a lunch box project where crackers and cheese should be packed together. It was clear to me that the package should be activating and make it fun to eat at school.

The result was “Oste-Rex” which consists of two compo-site cups of which the upper cup contained biscuits and the lower cup contained cheese. The child can play that “Rex” is eating the biscuit when it is dipped into the cheese. In addition I focused on an easy implementation in produc-tion when it used standard cups and just added labels that attached two cups and also indicated flavors and gave “Rex” personality. Much is done with few resources.

In addition, the product is designed as a multi pack of 4-5 units which ensures the childs lunch in a full work week for busy families.

STOP SMITTE

- Service design project -

The project is a collaboration with Randers Hospital who have a desire to improve hand hygiene among visitors. Poor hand hygiene causes every year 3,000 deaths as a re-sult of an infection from the hospital.

The main focus of the project is to highlight the existing alcohol dispensers and at the same time to apply more to visitors. The project is supplemented with information boards which communicates the importance of hand hy-giene. The same does stickers placed at all sinks showing important washing areas. The project nudges the visitors to automatically get a better hand hygiene. A major focus of the task was to communicate the message as simple as possible as visitors often find themselves in an unfortunate situation and can not understand too complex information.

The project takes the hospitals’ high cleaning requirements into account by omitting dust collecting surfaces by only using graphics on film. Color Psychology and existing colors used in the hospital has also been carefully consi-dered.

- Competition for new table-bench set -

Divided is a half traditional table/bench set which gives the same view-direction and common focus. This creates the ideal frame to stay at prospects, playgrounds and parks.

Divided has a very simple and soft expression. The round-ed shapes and playful colors are happy and welcoming. The open sides also makes it easy to take a seat on the bench. From the side Divided is a square which is broken up by the level difference between the bench and the table. If there is a need for a gathering of many people the com-position of two units placed back to back still provide this opportunity.

Divided consists of durable materials that can withstand weather-related challenges. The smooth continuous sur-faces and soft corners keeps dirt from accumulating. The vertical extension of the seat and the table surface provides a “free” and integrated strength in the construction.

- Friis & Moltke design department -

My internship offered different projects with different cli-ents. The tasks includes school desks to Germany, a bar in-stallation to a college, redesign of a logo, height-adjustable tables, big pots, furniture for waiting rooms, bike racks, lecterns and institutional furnitures. Several of these pro-jects have either been realized or are still in the implemen-tation process.

I worked on the institution furnitures over a longer period and under the presentation for the client there was a great interest for the majority of the design proposals.

One of the realized institution projects can be experienced on DOKK1 in Aarhus (see picture). The project is a con-struction table for small children with storage and remo-vable and movable tabletops. The table is always in use and gathers the children in an imaginative universe.

- A living community -

The bachelor project combines different programs in the same building to create interaction and connections be-tween the users. The building includes a dormitory, a re-creational area, a café and workshop facilities.

The recreational area and public area are woven into the building body - creating visual and physical connections between different levels. Passageways and movement in the building are formed from the existing flow on the site. The meeting between the various programs and clashing movement patterns in different physical levels created a complexity that required persistent overview and a strong logistical sense.

- Wayfinding to Tall Ship Race -

The event Tall Ship Race is the world’s largest regatta for training ships. The project was to optimize the visitor expe-rience, why I chosed to focus on wayfinding and informa-tion availability.

There navigation tracks starts at different places inside the city and makes a curiosity of the citizen which will attract more people into the harbor. The tracks also starts at parking spaces which will help visitors to find out to the harbor. In-side the points is written short information such as distance to the event.

Besides the tracks the project consists of information instal-lations which provide information on the event, Aarhus as a city, the sailing schedule, tickets and prices. Both info in-stallations and navigation tracks are inspired by sailcloth. After the ending of Tall Ship Race the sailcloths can easily be removed by using carbine-hooks. The steel frame will be the only thing left as a memory and at the same time allow new events to reuse them.

The project was selected to be presented to the municipality of Aarhus in order to be realized.
