FE 15 P2 Hurling League
Valley Rovers v Carrigtwohill @ the Bleach on Saturday
the 9th of September.
While the Valley Rovers under 12s took to the field in
the Plate final of the Martin Muldoon Tournament in
Brinny, the under 15s played Carrigtwohill in a cracking
hurling match in the Bleach in very wet and slippery
conditions.
Valley Rovers got off to a slow start with Carrigtwohill
leading at half time. However, after regrouping at half
time Valley Rovers took the game by the scruff of the
neck and a good contest ensued with Valleys up two
points with a couple of minutes to go however
Carrigtwohill replied with two late points and the
match ended a draw. The final score was Valley Rovers
3-11 to Carrigtwohill 1-17.

FE 15 HURLING P2 League
Valley Rovers under 15s played Blackrock in a hurling
league match last Thursday evening in St. Michaels,
Mahon. Valley Rovers were too strong for Blackrock
and the half time score read 1-7 to 0-4.
The second half saw Blackrock improve somewhat
having many shots on goal but the good goal stopping
by Dylan Huggard and the continuous work of the backs
and midfield recycling plenty of ball allowed all the full
forward line to score goals. At the final whistle, the
score was Valley Rovers 3-11 to Blackrock 1-9.
Well done lads!

U-13 Hurling League
This past week see the P1's make the long trip to
Midleton on Monday evening last. This was an
important game as league points are up for grabs with
only two league games to go. The lads were well
beaten on the night, with Midleton winning the battles
all over the pitch.
It was a heavy defeat on the night for the lads, but the
lads will bounce back quickly for the last league game
against Newtownshandrum on the 23rd September.
The mentor group would like to thank all who made
the trip to Midleton on the night.
U12 Martin Muldoon Memorial Hurling
Tournament
The U12 Martin Muldoon Memorial Hurling
Tournament was held in Brinny on Saturday 08th
September. 4 teams competed in the tournament this
year Kinvara (Galway), Shandrum, Courcey Rovers and
Valley Rovers.
The tournament was opened by Audrey, wife of the
late Martin, who welcomed all on behalf of Aidan and
Joe (brothers of Martin), all the Muldoon family and
Valley Rovers. Despite the drizzle that persisted
throughout the day, it failed to dampen spirits and the
day was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Our U12’s opened the tournament with a game against
Shandrum. This was doubling up as a league game and
with Shandrum near the top of the league it was always
going to be a difficult assignment. However our lads
played extremely well and were very unlucky to
concede a late goal that give Shandrum a one point
winning margin of 2-3 to 2-2. Having made such a huge
effort in the Shandrum game and with a number of
injured players unable to compete on the day our lads
couldn’t reach the levels displayed in the opening game
and lost the other round robin games.
Following the completion of the round robin games
Shandrum and Kinvara contested the cup final, while
Valleys met local neighbours Courcey Rovers in the
plate final.
Plate final: in the plate final Valleys again showed great
determination and skill to reverse the loss to Courceys
in the round robin game.
Valley Rovers 2-3 Courcey Rovers 0-1
Cup final: in the cup final Shandrum continued their
unbeaten run, scoring goals at vital stages and proving
too strong for a gallant Kinvara in a very sporting final.
Shandrum 5-1 Kinvara 2-3
Closing proceedings Audrey Muldoon thanked the four
competing teams for their magnificent displays; all
were a credit to their clubs both on and off the field
during the day.
Aidan and Joe Muldoon then presented plate and cup
to Valley Rovers and Shandrum team captains as well
as medals to all teams.
Kinvara (original home of the Muldoon family) made a
very special presentation of a framed Kinvara jersey to
Audrey which was a very thoughtful gesture to mark
their first visit to the tournament.
A special thanks to Sheila McCarthy and all the ladies
who prepared a beautiful assortment of sandwiches,
home baking and treats, our social committee (Bernice
and Ber) who as always ensured that everyone was
well looked after and catered for on the day and our
referees, including our own young referee Shane Lynch
who did a great job keeping the games flowing and
entertaining. Thanks too to Colm Butler who has
coached our U12 hurlers during the year, travelling to
our games around the county and again giving his time
to coach our lads on Saturday.

and dad's, travelled to Croke Park last Sunday. It was a
most enjoyable day, with the Cork ladies winning both
the intermediate and senior camogie finals. Valleys also
had the privilege of having players represented on the
Cork U14 teams which paraded around the pitch at the
interval, after competing in the All-Ireland U14 Blitz the
previous day. Well done to them.
