Introduction What is it? Pioneering cooperative work co-funded by Intelligent Energy Europe within the concept of promoting sustainable building and energy efficiency measures.

What was the trigger for the project ? The recast European Directive 2010/31/EU stipulates the existence of nearly zero energy buildings after 2019 (public sector) and 2021 (private sector). However, barriers were identified regarding the know-how of the professionals of building industry and decision makers especially in Southern Europe responsible for the design of nZEBs, for the creation of funding framework and incentives for nZEBs Sustainable Cities

What is the purpose of the project? To prepare appropriately the professionals of the building industry and decision makers through training in filling-in this gap

Who participates? Nine partners, addressing 4 target countries (Greece, Cyprus, Southern Italy and Portugal)

SouthZEB project

Expected results – Outstanding Features

Expected results

Development of ten training modules, the relative reference material and the assessment exams mainly focusing on the design of nZEB buildings

Development of a portal consisting of an e-learning platform, forum, funding opportunities section and simulation tools section for the remote application of the aforementioned training modules

Training of professionals through workshops (1500 trainees and 150 trainers) based on the aforementioned training modules lead to nZeb certification

Outstanding Features

www.southzeb.eu

Training modules will be hopefully adapted to the target countries legislation and specialties design or retrofitting towards nZEBs maintaining the building traditions of the target countries

The aid of significant front-runner countries (UK, Austria, Northern Italy) combined with the fact that no relevant project has been implemented in these regions great value

The training shall lead to nZEB certification

A knowledge base is being created for the design / retrofitting towards nZEBs and the implementation of funding schemes for nZEBs
