Agenda: Migration in 2017: How to accommodate and/or promote integration of Syrian

refugees in European societies

5 million, this is a number representing the refugees who fled Syria since 2011. They

desperately seek for a better environment to live, as ‘Crimes against humanity’ has

seriously tortured them. European countries mainly accept the refugees, however

concerns has been consistently raised regarding the successful integration of the people.

As a nation also producing a lot of refugees, Iraq hopes to deal with the agenda with

special interest. The international society must reach a balance between short and long-

term solutions.

This delegate would like to propose a two-track approach in which the Security Council

focuses to address both immediate and sustainable solutions.

Short-term solutions must prioritize on safely accommodating the Asylum Seekers,

together with providing basic needs.

Long-terms must focus on changing the social perception of the natives; such as tackling

xenophobia by through both domestic and international measures. Education is crucial to

both natives and refugees: such as changing social stereotypes of the natives and enabling

the refugees to become competitive and highly educated. The modification of the refugee

policy can also be promoted by the international society.

This delegate would like to evaluate his points as the debate proceeds, and welcomes any

other effective measures raised by the delegates. Thank you.

본국, 인도는 내전을 겪어 본적이 없기 때문에 대사 분들께 확실한 내전 해결을

위한 방안을 말씀 드릴 수가 없습니다. 그러나 대사단 여러분, 본 국가는 원래

인도 한 국가였다가 이슬람/힌두교 분쟁으로 파키스탄과 인도로 나뉜 것을 알고

계신가요? 이러한 국가 내에서의 분쟁은 영국의 식민지 때부터 시작되어

현재까지도 큰 분쟁으로 이루어지고 있습니다. 이를 통해 본 대사는 하나의

사소한 분쟁은 아주 큰 내전이 되어 국가간의 대립을 만들 수 있다는 점을 말하고

싶습니다.

존경하는 의장님, 그리고 친애하는 대사단 여러분들, 본 대사는 내전을 해결하기

앞서 난민수용이나 치료 지원에 대해서도 방안을 모색하여야 하겠지만, 내전이

일어난 국가가 스스로 내전을 해결 할 수 있게 도와주는 것이 가장 효율적이라

생각합니다. 본 대사의 의견과 더불어 본 대사는 이번 회기때 여러 방안을

모색하며 내전 해결을 위한 가장 좋은 방안을 찾고 싶습니다. 이상입니다.
