Welcome to Center for Japanese Language, Waseda University! In Comprehensive Japanese 1, all classes are

basically conducted in Japanese. The textbooks and quizzes will be written entirely in Japanese, and

from the very first lesson you will be expected to be able to read and write kana with ease. If you have no

or little knowledge about Japanese writing systems (especially that of kana), it will affect your Japanese

studies for the entire course. You should learn Hiragana and Katakana before your class starts, which
