ROBOTIS DREAM Level 3
ROBOTIS DREAM Level 3 comes with the controller and teaches you the principles of servo motor
control, usage of the touch sensor and IR sensors, and LED modules. This level will help you
understand the flow chart to set up your ground work for programming.
Operate your robot using the sensors assembled in them or play games to experience how the
sensors can be used in various ways.
Caution : ROBOTIS DREAM Level 3 requires parts from ROBOTIS DREAM Level 1 and 2.
Please make sure to purchase these to build the robots in Level 3.
Users must program the robots or download the program into the controller
(CM-150) to operate the robot.
To download programs, you will need the USB cable included in Level 1.
If you want to build robots in other shapes and control them, please purchase the
ROBOTIS DREAM Level 4.

Product Usage
It is the motor used in OLLO; it is connected to CM-100, and the direction of spin and the
speed of spin can be adjusted through port control.
If it is set to "Spin Mode," it can be operated as the geared motor; if it is set to "Joint Mode,"
the motor can be moved to the designated location by setting the speed of
spin(Power)andthe value of location.
It is mainly used to maintain certain angles pursuant to some conditions such as moving
joints, moving steering devices, etc.

Control Angle
The servo motor of OLLO can control the location from 0 degree to 300 degrees, and the
minimum control angle is about 0.29 degrees (300/1024).
However, since the servo motor of OLLO is not as accurate as Dynamixel, and the torque is
weaker than Dynamixel, it is appropriate servo motors are used for basic learning of the
principles and usages; not appropriate to use for the places where accurate controls are
needed.

Product Usage
It uses a method which produces infrared lights and calculates the amount reflected back.
Infrared light is not suitable to measure distance between objects because even though two
objects are at the same distance, the reflected amount can be varied depending on the
color and brightness.

Relation between distance and sensor value
Below is a graph representing a rough estimate of the sensor value’s changes from the
white object’s distance. The sensor’s value is subject to change depending on the object’
s color and surrounding environment.
The IR sensor is divided into a receiver and transmitter. When an object is too close, the
angle where the reflected infrared light comes is not even making it difficult to know the
area which the sensor value decreases. Also, it can barely detect object further than 15cm.

The module makes light with LED. There are two types of LED: Orange and Blue. ON/OFF of each
LED can be controlled separately through port control.

Can be used as a bumper on cars to detect impact.
