Season's Greetings! Kids, especially little ones, are such precious gifts. John, our Director of

Recreation, recently became a grandpa for the first time; you may have

noticed him beaming. My Mom, at 91, is completely enamoured with

my niece’s infant daughter Jalin; she can’t get enough of the wee one

even though she’s exhausted after they visit.

Kids visiting at KinVillage are so very welcome; they seem to delight our residents. I’m not

sure why they can have such a powerful effect. Perhaps it’s partly because they bring joy and

inspire hope, two feelings prominent at this time of year.

I wish you many reasons to smile this festive season.

All the work paid off for our Christmas Market. Thank you Yvonne and the receptionists who sold vendor tables as well as to Emily and Jeannie who accepted $755 in donations at the door. Customer traffic was constant with 428 people attending. To those behind the scenes, Deb, Margaret, Sharon, Jean, Juliana and their colleagues who brightened the Centre with Christmas decorations sincere thanks. To Cindy, Pam and Gloria and all those who placed the calls for baked goods and all those who contributed to our table, we are grateful. The baked goods brought in $1,232. This event just could not take place without all the work of dedicated volunteers.

Thanks also to the volunteers that worked in the Unique Boutique on Saturday. They were kept quite busy and sales amounted to $330.

All proceeds from the event will be used for projects in the Community Centre.

FOOT NURSE BREAKS FOOT

We wish a speedy recovery to our foot nurse, aura, who broke her foot recently. It had to be repaired using screws and plates so it will be a long time before she can return to work. She did check around for a replacement foot nurse but no one is available.

She hopes you will remember her and return to her care when she gets back, hopefully, by February 2018.

Of course I couldn’t resist teasing aura that she took pretty dramatic steps just so she wouldn’t have to cook Christmas dinner.
