ACTIONo Yellow water soluble dibasic acid of

xanthine series.o Demonstrate defects of corneal

epthelium.o Does not stain tissue but useful

indicater dye.o Intact corneal epithethlium resist

INDOCYANINE GREEN A water soluble dye with a peak

spectral absption at 8100- 810nm. ICG is used to acquire an angiogram of

the choraid. ICG was first used in 1969 but was not

brought into the practical clinical setting until 1992.

also accurred an patients with history of allergy to iodides.

Page 16: Opthalmic dyes

ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE Use 40 mg dye in 2 ml of aqueous

solvent.in some patient, half the volume has been found to produce angiograms of comparable resolution .

Use only the aqeuous solvent provided which specially prepared sterile water for injection
