    Dear Colleagues,Samara region is one of the most dynamic

    regions of Russia. The basic direction of the region development is the transition to innovative economy.

    Nowadays, with the President and the Government of the Russian Federation setting the goals to modernize the economy, to develop and implement the innovative technologies, the higher education of the Samara region should provide a system of education and training to fit the innovative economy.

    The Samara region Government believes that the higher professional education is a crucial resource for social and economic development of the region, so it provides considerable support to the academic community by offering grants for promising research and by rewarding the authors of the most perspective projects and works.

    An important step towards establishment of an innovative economy is the commercialization of R&D results of the regional universities. Over 40 university spin-offs operate in Samara region in the areas like medicine, tool engineering, development of combustion engine parts, development of engineering technologies, development of energy-efficient and clean technologies etc. Innovative business-structures (business incubators, small enterprises) grow rapidly on the basis of the Samara higher educational institutions. Establishment of an education system to correspond to the innovative economy is a common goal for the government, the business and the educational institutions.

    the concerns for the modern Russian society and the specialists of secondary and higher education.

    As the world changes it becomes more and more open for the people with really high-quality education. Education together with political will, smart policy in the social sphere and the economy forms a basis for the development of any country. In this respect, analyzing the foreign experience considerably cuts the time required to find the efficient ways of modernizing the Russian school.
