2.1 การท างานของเครองคอมพวเตอร
กอนทเราจะน าเครองคอมพวเตอรมาใชประโยชนในงานดานใด ๆ กตาม ผใชจ าเปนอยางยงทจะตองเลอกใชเครองคอมพวเตอรทมความสามารถเหมาะสมกบงานแตละประเภท เราจงควรจะทราบถงสวนประกอบเบองตนของเครองคอมพวเตอรเพอเปนพนฐานในการท างาน

เครองคอมพวเตอรท างานดวยกระแสไฟฟา จงอาศยคณสมบตของสญญาณไฟฟาซงม 2 สถานะ คอ เปดและปด ( On/Off ) ส าหรบน ามาสรางสญลกษณตาง ๆ เพอใชงานบนคอมพวเตอร จงเรยกวาระบบเลขฐานสอง (Binary System)
ในทนค าวา “สญลกษณ” หมายถง ตวอกษร (character) ตวเลข (numeric) เครองหมายวรรคตอน (punctuation mark) สญลกษณพเศษตาง ๆ

การประมวลผลแตละครงจะขนอยกบขนาดของเวรด(Word) ซงจะสอดคลองกบสถาปตยกรรมของซพยวามขนาดกบต เชน 16 , 32 หรอ 64 บต เปนตน นอกจากนจ านวนบตทใชในการสรางรหสยงขนอยกบมาตรฐานทน ามาอางองดวย

2.3 มาตรฐานการอางองรหสบนระบบคอมพวเตอร
รหสแอสก ( ASCII- CODE ) ก าหนดขนเปนครงแรกโดยสถาบนมาตรฐานแหงสหรฐอเมรกา (ANSI : American
National Standard Institute) เรยกวา รหสแอสก (ASCII : American Standard Code for Information Interchange)
ซงแตเดมเปนรหสขนาด 7 บต ใชแทนตวอกษร , ตวเลขและสญลกษณตาง ๆ จ านวน 128 แบบ ( 2 7 = 128 ) จากนนมการเพมบตภายหลงเปนรหสขนาด 8 บต โดยบตทเพมเขามามไวส าหรบตรวจสอบความถกตองในการสงขอมลเรยกวา พารตบต (parity bit) ดงนนรหสแอสกขนาด 8 บต ท าใหมสญลกษณทจะใชบนเครองคอมพวเตอรจ านวน 256 แบบ ( 2 8 = 256 )

2.3 มาตรฐานการอางองรหสบนระบบคอมพวเตอร
เอบซดค ( EBCDIC : Extended Binary Coded Decimal Interchange Code)
รหสเอบซดคเปนมาตรฐานการสรางรหสแทนสญลกษณบนระบบคอมพวเตอรระดบเมนเฟรมของบรษทไอบเอม ( IBM : International Business Machines Corporation ) และเปนรหสขนาด 8 บต แตเนองจากปญหาของการแปลงขอมลระหวางเครองคอมพวเตอรทใชรหสมาตรฐานตางกน ท าใหผผลตอปกรณคอมพวเตอรและซอฟตแวรอน ๆ เลอกใชมาตรฐานรหสแอสกเปนสวนใหญ

ยนโคด ( Unicode ) เนองจากความตองการทจะใชประโยชนจากคอมพวเตอรมแนวโนมสงขน สราง
ขนมาเพอรองรบสญลกษณแบบตาง ๆ อยางเพยงพอกบภาษาและวฒนธรรมทางสงคมของชนชาตนน ๆ ดงนนรหสยนโคดจงถกพฒนาขนโดยองคกรก าหนดมาตรฐานสากล ( ISO : International Organization for Standardization )
ซงเปนรหสขนาด 16 บต ท าใหมรหสรองรบสญลกษณแบบตาง ๆ ไดถง 65,536 แบบ ( 216 = 65,536 ) โดยรวมรหสแอสกไวดวยเรยกวา ยทเอฟ-8 ( UTF-8 : Unicode Transformation Formats )
รปแบบการเขารหส (Character Encoding Scheme) แบบยนโคด มดวยกน 7 แบบ คอ UTF-8 , UTF-16 , UTF-16BE , UTF-16LE , UTF-32 , UTF-32BE , UTF-32LE

จากสถาปตยกรรมของวอนนวแมน ( von Neumann architecture ) ผซงเคยใหแนวคดเกยวกบคอมพวเตอรและสรางเครอง EDSAC ขนมา ณ มหาวทยาลยเคมบรดนน ท าใหสามารถก าหนดหนวยโครงสรางพนฐานของคอมพวเตอรประกอบดวย 4 หนวยหลก ดงน 1. Input Unit/Device

Data Bus หรอ Bus ขอมลจะท าหนาทในการก าหนดเสนทางการเคลอนทของขอมล ระหวางโมดลในระบบ ตามปรกตแลวบสมขนาด 8 ,16,32 เสน ซงใชในการอางองความกวางของชองสญญาณ(Bandwidth) ในแตละเสนจะเกบขอมลได 1 บตในหนงชวงเวลา จ านวนของเสนจะเปนตวก าหนดวามจ านวนบตเทาไรทสามารถสงไดในหนงชวงเวลา
Ex. เชนดาตาบสมขนาด 8 บต แตค าสงมความยาว 16 บต ดงนนระบบจะตองท าการเอกเซสหนวยความจ า 2 รอบตอหนงค าสง

บสต าแหนง ออกแบบมาเพอเปนแหลงเกบ (Source and Destination) ขอมลในดาตาบสทจะใชสงต าแหนงของขอมลทตองการไปยงหนวยความจ า
ขนาดของ Address Bus จะเปนตวก าหนดขนาดความจของหนวยความจ าในระบบ เชน Processors มเสน Address จ านวนมากกจะท าใหสามารถอางองหนวยความจ าไดมากดวย เชน CUP 8088 มเสน Address Bus จ านวน 20 เสนดงนนจงสามารถอางถงหนวยความจ าได 1 Mb (220) = 1024 x 1024
Ex. Pentium มเสน Address Bus = 32 เสน จงอางถงหนวยความจ าได 4 Gb
นอกจากนนแลว Address bus ยงใชในการก าหนดต าแหนงของ I/O Port อกดวย CUP

หนวยประมวลผลกลาง : CPU (Central Processing Unit)
หนวยประมวลผลหมายถงอปกรณทท าหนาทประมวลผลค าสง เปรยบเสมอนสมองของคอมพวเตอรทผใชปอนค าสงใหโดยผานทางอปกรณรบขอมล หนวยประมวลผลกลางของเครองคอมพวเตอรน เราเรยกวา ซพย (CPU : Central Processing Unit)
ส าหรบซพยทใชบนเครองระดบพซจะเรยกวาไมโครโปรเซสเซอร(Microprocessor) ภายในประกอบดวยหนวยการท างานยอย 2 หนวย ไดแก หนวยค านวณและเปรยบเทยบเรยกวา เอแอลย (ALU : Arithmetic and Logic Unit)

CU มการท างานทงหมด 4 ขนตอน :
Fetch ดงชดค าสงหรอขอมลจาก Memory เขาสภายใน CPU Decode ท าการแปลงชดค าสง (instruction) เปนค าสงภายใน (commands) Execute ท าการประมวลผลตามค าสงใหไดผลลพธ Store บนทกผลทไดจากการประมวลผลไปเกบใน Memory

1. หนวยความจ าแบบ Static RAM (SRAM) เปนหนวยความจ าทพฒนามาจากทรานซสเตอร ขอมลจะคงอยในหนวยความจ า เปนหนวยความจ าทมความเรวสง มราคาแพง มกน าไปใชเปนหนวยความจ าแคช (Cache memory)
2. หนวยความจ าแบบไดนามก Dynamic RAM (DRAM) เปนหนวยความจ าทท ามากจาก คาปาซเตอร จ าเปนตองมกระแสไฟ Refresh ตวเองอยตลอดเวลาเพอไมใหขอมลหาย ท าชาเพราะตองรเฟสตวเองตลอดเวลา มกใชงานเปนหนวยความจ าหลก

Cache Memory
เปนหนวยความจ าชนดหนงซงมความรวดเรวในการเขาถงและการถายโอนขอมล โดยต าแหนงของหนวยความจ าแคชนนจะอยระหวาง CPU กบหนวยความจ าหลก ซงมทงแคชภายในและแคชภายนอก หนวยความจ าแคชจะมหนาทในการดงขอมลและเกบขอมลทมกใชงานบอยๆจากหนวยความจ าหลกมาเกบไวเพอสงผานไปยง CPU ตอไป
L1 = Internal Cache มความเรวในการท างานเทากบ CPU L2 = External Cache จะออกแบบไวอยภายนอก CPU เชนอยบน Mainboard ของเครอง

Secondary Memory
หนวยความจ าส ารอง หมายถง อปกรณทใชเปนสอในการบนทกแฟมขอมลหรอตดตงโปรแกรมส าหรบใชงานบนเครองคอมพวเตอร โดยจะแบงการท างานออกเปนสองสวนคอ สวนทใชเปนสอในการเกบขอมล ( Storage Media ) และสวนทเปนเครองอานหรอบนทกขอมล ( Storage Media Drive )
ส าหรบประเภทของสอทใชในการเกบขอมล (Storage) สามารถแบงไดเปนสองลกษณะตามคณสมบตทางกายภาพคอ สอทเปนแมเหลก ไดแก แผนฟลอปปดสก ( Magnetic disk ) , เทป ( Magnetic tape ) , ฮารดดสก ( Hard disk ) เปนตน และสอทบนทกดวยแสง ( optical ) ไดแก แผนซดรอม ( CD-ROM : Compact Disk Read Only Memory ) , DVD-ROM และ CD-RW เปนตน
