Feast of All Saints Day Sunday, November 1st

This day commemorates all those who have attained the beatific vision in Heaven. In the Catholic Church, the next day specifically commemorates the departed faithful who have not yet been purified and reached Heaven. Christians celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls Day do so in the fundamental belief that there is a prayerful spiritual bond between those in heaven, and the living. These saints are honored and remembered.

Feast of All Souls Day Mass Monday, November 2nd at 7:00 pm All Souls Day is a day commemorating the faithful departed. It is held on November 2nd and is associat-ed with All Saint’s Day (November 1st). On this day we pray for the dead, and we remember those who have died. On the Feast of All Souls our parish will celebrate a special vigil Mass remembering your beloved de-ceased. You and your family members and friends are invit-ed for this important occasion, along with the priests of the parish, where all the names of the deceased will be read during the liturgy (of all who celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial at OLMM (since last No-vember 2014). Our prayers and support are with you, and know that your loved one will never leave you. We hope to see you present in our church. Please also remember to return your All Souls Mass Remembrance envelopes before Nov. 2, so they can be placed on the altar during all our All Souls Masses. The envelopes can be placed in the first collection together with your weekly offering or dropped off at the rectory. Reminder: Sunday, Nov. 1st, Daylight Savings Time ends. Please put your clocks BACK one hour

before retiring on Saturday night.

I believe there are angels among us. Angels doing God’s work on earth. A special thank you to all our parishion-ers who are always ready to help.

Socks for Veterans

In preparation for the Winter Season, the OLMM Young Adult Leaders will be assisting the Sisters of Mercy and their associates at St. Matthias Church in collecting new warm men’s socks for the Veterans at the St. Albans Veteran’s Hospital in St. Albans,

Queens. Why socks? Socks are essential in the winter months and are one of the least donated and most needed items. Our Young Adult Leaders will be available on Sunday, November 8th at the 10:30am Mass to accept your do-nations. (A box will also be at the Blessed Mother’s Shrine inside of the Church until November 15th). Could you please help with this effort - every pair of socks helps. Please help our Veterans during the month of Novem-ber. Veterans’ Day is November 11. Let us pray for the men and women who fight for our freedom.

Box Tops for Education

Please collect Box Tops and Labels from your grocery products. Labels and box tops may be sent to the Rec-tory or the School. NDCA School earns points and earns free items for education. Thank you for your continued support.

Ordination to the Diaconate

Diocese of Brooklyn-Queens and our parish Vocation Committee is proud to announce the Ordination of Seminarian Mark Bristol to the Order of Deacon. The ordination will take place on Saturday, Novem-ber 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Seminary in Dunwoodie Yonkers. We congratulate him and look forward to his return on December 6th to officially preach at the 10:30am Mass.

Don’t Forget - Please Take Me Home! This church bulletin is printed as a convenience for you and your family so that you can know what is happening in your parish. It contains useful infor-mation about the parish and its activities and many times some thoughts on religious topics. We hope that you will take it home and read it during the week. Taking the bulletin home has at least two other pur-poses. It lets people who visit you know that you are Catholic and a member of O.L.M.M. parish. It can be a way for others to become aware that they should be coming to church more often. A second advantage is for the advertisers of our bulletin. They are doing a service for our parish and we ask you to support them. Please take the bulletin home with you. Thank you.
