Research conducted by the EPA has found that concentrations of VOC’s are regularly up to ten times as high as outdoor environments (and we spend up to 90% of our time indoors), and can climb up to a thousand times as high as outdoor concentrations while you are applying paint to interior surfaces.

Regulations are a little confusing and sometimes contradictory, and many of the regulations are not mandatory for residential indoor use. Many regulations are aimed at reducing VOC’s that cause smog, but do not improve indoor air quality. In-fact regulations allow manufacturers to label paints that contain up to 5g/L of VOC’s (or VOC’s exempted from the rules) as ‘zero-VOC’ or no-VOC’

Dr. C. Scott Clark from the University of Cincinnati tested samples of 373 different enamel paints being sold for household use, with at least 10 samples for each country. They found that the percentage of samples with lead levels at 600 ppm or above ranged from 32.8% for China and 36.6% for Singapore to nearly 90% for Thailand and 96% for Nigeria. The lowest average lead content ranged from 6,988 ppm for Singapore, where the researchers tested 41 samples, to 31,960 ppm for 10 samples tested from Ecuador.

Milk paint is a non-toxic water based mixture used as a paint. It is made from milk and lime with or without pigments added for color

keim paints //Keim Mineral Paints originated in Bavaria in 1878 and are now used extensively around the world. The system was developed by A.W. Keimto reproduce the appearance of lime fresco finishes which were able to withstand harsh weather conditions.

The system is a liquid silicate paint which comprises a potassium silicate binder with inorganic fillers (feldspar) and natural earth oxide colour pigments. When applied onto a mineral substrate the binder is absorbed and forms a micro-crystalline silicate structure. This crystalline structure allows the substrate to breathe but prevents the ingress of driven rain - a truly micro-porous coating.

"Although many of the toxic materials found in paints have been reduced in recent years due to legislation, especially among latex paints, some may still be released as the paint dries and the compounds volatilize, while others continue to be released into the ambient environment after the paint dries when there is no detectable odor... Paint emissions can continue for extended periods of time after application and Sparks et al. (1999) estimated that less than 50% of the VOC's in latex paint (applied to a surface) are emitted in the first year. “

Lotusan’s extreme resistance to water is a product of Stotechnology. The coating, after it is applied, mimics the microstructure of the surface of a lotus leaf. Tiny peaks and valleys on the surface minimize the contact area for water and dirt. As a result, the coating is highly resistant to dirt, mold and mildew, and it offers excellent resistance to weather, chalk and UV rays.

A photocatalytic reaction imitates the chlorophyllic photosynthesis of trees in their absorption and transformation of pollutants into non-toxic elements, using just light and air.

In the presence of light and air, Ecopurerproducts oxidise organic and inorganic substances which cause pollution, transforming them into harmless nitrates and carbonates. These residues, measured in parts per million are innocuous.
