This course covers historical overview of the field, paying particular attention to the development achieved especially after the World War II; concept and classification; universal (the United Nations) and regional (Europe, America and Africa, etc.) protection and the mechanisms established on international plane in order to monitor, implement and enforce human rights. The development achieved under the auspices of the Council of Europe will be dealt with in detail, especially the rights guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights and the mechanism established by this Convention, which is considered as the most sophisticated system of human rights protection in the World.
