“Fashion doesn’t exist if it’s not on the streets”,stated Gabrielle Chanel, who was the first to entrust photographers with the task of immortalizing her creations outside. On the banks of the Seine, Place Vendôme, on the boulevards, in Montmartre or Les Halles, the poses struck are freer than in the studio and the images captured there intertwine the shared legend of Paris and fashion. From the Séeberger Brothers to Richard Avedon, passing by Guy Bourdin, Jean-Philippe Charbonnier, Georges Dambier, Frank Horvat, William Klein, Jacques Rouchon, Jeanloup Sieff and Mario Testino, the greatest photographers deliver their unique visions of Parisian chic. Through the eras, and long after the shots were taken, their images have never stopped making us dream.
