Welcome to the Pasadena Unified School District’s 2017-2018 school year! I am excitedto start the new school year, and to welcome our students, families, and educators toPasadena Unified.
Every school year is a new opportunity for students to learn and excel. It is also an opportunity for parents and guardians to partner with our talented and dedicated teachersand staff to support students as they pursue their dreams. We know that when familiesare involved, students do better in school and in life.
I encourage you to read the 2017-2018 Parent/Student Handbook, which summarizesthe programs, services, and policies often used by students and families; it also includesimportant annual notifications.

We’re going green! This year, the 2017-2018 Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) Parent/Student Handbook is available exclusively online at gopusd.com/handbook. Print copies will be available for viewing at schoolmain offices.
PUSD is required to annually notify parents and guardians of rights and responsibilities in accordance with Education Code 48980 and 48982.The Parent/Student Handbook summarizes the resources, programs,services, and policies often used by students and families. Meal Charge PolicyWe understand that parents are busy and may occasionally forget to pack a lunch or send in lunch money. At PUSD, no child goes hungry. In the event an elementary student does not have money on their student account or from home that day, the following policy will apply:
1 – Elementary students may charge a maximum of $10.00;
2 – Once the charge limit has been reached, the student will receive an alternate meal with a sandwich, vegetables, and milk.
Meal Charges are not allowed in grades 6‐12. Students who are unable to purchase a meal will be provided an alternative meal.

El presupuesto estatal de 2017‐18 hizo importantes cambios tanto en la forma en que el Estado asigna fondos a los distritos escolares.
Bajo el nuevo modelo de financiamiento hay tres formas de financiamiento.
