b. Program Development

Social Justice and Human Rights Concentration, Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (graduate), rolled out spring 2015I played the lead role, organizing and running two committees—one based in New Century College and one composed of faculty from across the university—to create an innovative concentration in the Masters of Arts in Integrative Studies program. I analyzed similar programs at other colleges and universities and helped to build the concentration around contemporary notions of intersectionality.

Social Justice and Human Rights Concentration, Integrative Studies (undergraduate), rolled out Fall 2012I worked for two years with two New Century College (NCC) colleagues to design an innovative new concentration in Social Justice and Human Rights (part of the Integrative Studies major). After reviewing similar programs across the U.S., I took the lead on designing the concentration. I designed the “gateway course” and several other courses for the concentration. Courses I created for this concentration include:

Social Justice Consciousness and Personal Transformation Poverty, Wealth, and Inequality Social Justice Education Animal Rights and Humane Education

Social Justice Minor (George Mason University), rolled out Spring 2013

Environmental and Sustainability Studies, Equity and Environmental Justice Concentration (George Mason University), rolled out Fall 2011As the coordinator of the Equity and Environmental Justice concentration of this new major, I created the required Environmental Justice course and collaborated on other program design issues with faculty from across the university.

Master of Arts in Education Program (Hamline University), rolled out Fall 2004Collaborated with four faculty colleagues on a wholesale redesign of the program. Designed new Educating for Equity and Social Justice course, which became a program requirement.
