people with respiratory illnesses or decreased lung functions. If you notice the air
quality is poor, please take the following precautions to protect yourself.
Avoid outdoor activities. Children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those
suffering from chronic illnesses, especially heart and respiratory diseases, should
remain indoor.
Drink more water and eat ample fresh fruits and vegetables. They help the
body to flush out toxins absorbed through the skin and lungs. It also improves the
immune system.
Close all windows and doors in homes. Use an air purifier or turn on the air
conditioner.
Take your medication regularly, especially those who suffer from heart and
medical problems. If you feel breathless at any point in time, seek medical
attention immediately.
Under severe haze conditions, wear a respirator if you must go outside.
Respirators work better than surgical masks. They come with the right filter to
remove fine particles found in the haze.

The Lion King takes place in the Pride Lands, where a lion rules over the other
animals as king. Simba is the newborn cub of King Mufasa and Queen Sarabi. Simba is to
be the new heir to the throne. Mufasa younger brother, Scar, is furious that he will no
longer be the heir to the throne. So, he plots to kill Simba.
One day, Scar tricks Simba and gets the hyenas to kill him. Fortunately, Simba is
rescued by Mufasa.
Scar further plots by promising the hyenas, forming an army. Then, Scar lures Simba
into a ravine for a “surprise from his father”. He then signals the hyenas to go down into the ravine where Simba is. Once again, Mufasa races to rescue Simba from the hyenas. He
saves his son, but unfortunately dies in the fight. However, Scar convinces Simba that he
was responsible for his own father’s death and advises him to run away from the Pride Lands, never to return. Scar once again sends the hyenas to kill Simba, but Simba
manages to escape.
Scar happily informs the creatures of the Pride Lands that both Mufasa and Simba
were killed by the hyenas and he is taking over the throne as he is the closest relative of
the king.
Simba returns after Scar strikes his mother. He forces Simba over the edge of Pride
Rock, just as a lightning bolt start a fire below. As Simba dangles over the edge of Pride
Rock, Scar whispers to Simba that he killed Mufasa. Enraged, Simba leaps up and pins Scar
to the ground.

Question 23
Study the passage below and answer the questions that follow.
Teliti petikan di bawah dan jawab soalan-soalan yang berikutnya.
Traditional timber Malay homes of the Sultans and the rich and famous dating
back to the 19th century and earlier were usually decorated by intricate carvings
with motifs of ferns, calligraphy, geometrical designs and even animals such as bats.
These carvings could be external panels of the walls or part of the roof edges,
windows and the columns of the balcony. The panels that were perforated allowed
air and sunlight into the homes to ventilate and light up the home. At night the
twinkling lights from the homes also added a certain charm to the rural setting.
Carvings such as these were specially carved by skillful craftsmen. The wood
too was chosen for its wood tone, fine grain and durability. The process of carving
was long and arduous.
First, a motif was chosen and drawn on top of the panel. Then each panel
was hand carved with great care using different chisels. When the designs were
completely carved, special rough leaves were used to smoothen the surfaces of
motifs. After that a special wood colour lacquer was used to paint on the surface to
give it a more lasting shine. This panel then would be ready to be used.
