properties of the recovered high pressure material. The target is to uncover the rule of the high pressure
chemistry reaction and synthesize the novel material, such as the energy material or lithium ion battery
materials. They combine multiple experimental methods and DFT theoretical calculation, including
the in-situ high pressure Raman, IR, x-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction and ex-situ chemical analysis
approaches (solid state NMR, TEM and GC-Ms et al.).
研究方向:研究高压下特有的化学反应。通过外加压力使原子互相靠近、成键,研究反应机理和所生成材料的性质。主要运用原位谱学、晶体学手段,如拉曼、红外、同步辐射 X 射线衍射、中子衍射,测定反应前物质的晶体结构与官能团的状态;运用固体核磁、拉曼、红外、PDF、质谱以及晶体学等手段分析反应产物的结构;同时运用理论计算模拟、分析反应过程。工作的主要目标是发现、解释高压下特有的化学反应规律,并以此为指引合成新型材料,包括碳基电池材料、含能材料等。

Research Interest: The superposition of large plastic shear on high pressure drastically changes the
microstructure, mechanism, thermodynamics, and kinetics of phase transitions. The rotational diamond
anvil cell (RDAC), a modified design of traditional diamond anvil cell (DAC) with the capability to rotate one
anvil against the other one about the loading axis at constant force, is an ideal tool to generate large plastic
shear at high pressure. Our study involves the use of RDAC to study the effect of pressure and shear on
the phase transformation, the lattice disorder, the electrical transport behavior of materials.
研究方向:塑性剪切作用与高压叠加可以彻底改变微观结构、 以及相变的机制、 热力学和动力学。旋转金刚石对顶砧压机(RDAC)是在传统金刚石对顶砧压机基础上进行改进修改后的设计,它可以在轴向保持较高压力的同时通过旋转其中一个压砧来实现在高压下对样品施以塑性剪切力。我们主要应用 RDAC,探索在高压和剪切的作用下,材料的相变、 晶格的扭曲、 及电输运能力等现象。

学生:万彪、唐虎、郭琪Research Interest: Novel multi-functional materials (NFMG), exploring the design principles and synthesis
of novel functional materials. There is a strong focus on design, synthesis and application of superhard,
superconducting and energy-related materials, and material characterizations using the state-of-art high-
pressure techniques. The goal of our research is to provide the fundamental understanding of these
functional materials. We are designing novel functional materials with controlled composition, structure,
and properties based on DFT. We synthesize and characterize these novel materials at ambient and
extreme conditions and understand structure-property relationships in the development of multifunctional
materials for potential applications in technological, electronics, optoelectronics, energy conversion and
storage materials and devices.
研究方向:利用高压技术对新型功能材料(NFMG)进行研究,探索新型功能材料的理论设计及实验合成。主要集中在超硬,超导以及能源相关材料的设计、合成及应用。我们的研究目的是提供新型功能材料基本的科学认识,基于 DFT 理论通过控制材料的成分、结构以及性质理论预测新型功能材料,并通过在正常与极端条件下合成与表征新型功能材料,理解不断发展的多功能材料的结构与性质之间的关系,为新型功能材料在工程、电子、光电、能源转换、储存材料和设备等方面的潜在应用提供支持。

Research Interest: Characterizing the electronic structure and functionality of energy materials in chemical
and photo-electrochemical catalysis using optical pump-probe and x-ray spectroscopy techniques.
We track ultrafast dynamics of charge (electron or hole) and chemical transformation (chemical bonds
formation/breaking) at the interface of functional materials (e.g. photocatalysts, photosensitizers, semi-
conductors, low-dimensional materials, composite materials, etc.) at or far from equilibrium conditions. We
apply X-ray spectroscopic techniques (XAS, XES, IXS) for in situ study of energy materials and chemical
catalysis in operando conditions, as well as x-ray instrumentation R&D for Synchrotrons, XFELs for
studying ultrafast processes.
