MAGAZINE SCREENSHOTS
Robyn Marshall-Dawson
I started by choosing an image that I thought represented the artist in a positive way; that also linked to her genre. Our artist Ava K makes loves songs and is very calm. I moved the model to the
right hand bottom side of the image and then used the colour picker tool to colour in the
background to make it all the same colour. I chose this colour because it is the same colour as the
background of the front cover from the digipak. I also liked the colour because it was light;
meaning that the font would stand out against it. I then added my artists logo and the name of her
album. I used the same fonts as I did on my digipak so that the two linked together. I chose the fonts because they’re very soft and create a calming mood, which is what I wanted to portray
from my advertisement.
I then added the release date to the left hand side in the negative space around the artist portrait. I used bold font so that it stood out
because the audience will easily be able to see when the album is available to buy. I also added my production companies logo on the bottom right hand side because it’s not as important
however has to be on the advert. I added some white background so that the writing would
stand out. I also like the way that it looks like it has been ripped out of a page because I think it makes it look more unique. I then added 4 red
stars that are the same red as her lipstick colour; this balances out the use of bright
colouring. I did this to make sure that there was a critics opinion as this makes the
advertisement look more professional.
I then added comments from critics underneath the stars so that they linked
in with the rating; this makes it look more legit and allows the audience to
understand what kind of music the album holds. This is my final design for my
magazine advert. I think it works well because it is very bold and stands out well. However if I did it again I would
experiment with different images to see what one works best, I would also
experiment with black and white because some of my digipaks are black and white
and so is our video.
