What are the phrasal verbs?
• Phrasal verbs are idiomatic expressions that are formed by combining verbs with prepositions or adverbs. This results in new phrasal verbs with a very different meaning than it gives us the dictionary for individual verbs.
• Example: put something off• verb

• Turn off: It uses when you wan switch off the light
• Example: where the light turns off?• Ask out: invite on a date• Example: Lorena asked Carlos out to dinner

• ask around: ask many people the same question
• Example: I asked around but nobody has seen my bag.
• call something off: cancel• Example: Jason called the
wedding off because he wasn't in love.
• calm down:relax after being angry• Example: You are still mad. You need to calm
downbefore you drive• do something over:do again• Example: My teacher wants me todo my
essay overbecause she doesn't like my topic.• go back: return to a place• Example: I have to go back home and get my
lunch.
• grow up :become an adult• Example: When Jack grows uphe wants to be a
fireman.• wake up: stop sleeping• Example: We have to wake upearly for work on
Monday.• run away: leave unexpectedly, escape• Example: The child ran away from home and
has been missing for three days.
