PLTS FESTIVAL

Learning Outcome Skill (General) Skill (Specific) Description (How did you achieve this PLTS?)

6.2 Creative Thinkers 2 ask questions to extend their thinking

I asked what ways you can promote the festival. When Nikki Shaill (works for the Lady Fest Festival) came in, she answered my question and taught us about guerrilla marketing.

Guerrilla marketing - promotions that relies on time, energy and imagination rather than a big marketing budget. There’s ways for example flash mob.

6.2 Team Workers 2 reach agreements, managing discussions to achieveResults

As we each divided into teams, we all had our own meetings. I was part of the art team and we had to work together to reach final agreements about the art exhibition and getting the public to submit their artwork for the festival. This includes discussing together and someone taking down notes (I was in charge of taking down the notes). Our results were good because we had quite a few people that submitted their work in to us for it to be displayed in the art exhibition.

6.3 Creative Thinkers 3 connect their own and others’ ideas and experiencesin inventive ways

Most of people from our team went to visit the Girl Fawkes Festival (part of the Lady Fest Ten) including me. I shared my experience with my team and told them what ideas I got out from the festival for example the workshops. I showed interests when they shared their ideas fro example everyone agreed to do workshops but not the same workshop from the Girl Fawkes Festival but different workshops.

6.3 Creative Thinkers 5 try out alternatives or new solutions and followideas through

Although we made our own promotional posters for the festival and stuck it around our school and other places, we thought we should try out alternatives and go out in the streets in the public and hand out flyers to people and post it through peoples door to promote the festival.

6.3 Creative Thinkers 6 adapt ideas as circumstances change

On the day of the festival we found out that the jump photo shoot wasn’t going to happen because we didn’t have the equipment, however we still had the camera and a big white sheet for the background. As a team, we had to adapt ideas and we still did the photo shoot. Except it wasn’t a jump photo shoot, but just a normal photo shoot where people just took photographs with their family and friends and we had it printed out for them.

6.3 Team Workers 2 reach agreements,

On the day of the festival, after half way through the festival, the place got quite messy with rubbish on the floors

managing discussions to achieve results

and I quickly discussed with some of the volunteers and reached agreements that when ever we see the place getting messy we have to clear it whenever we can. The results were impressive because it actually worked and I witnessed myself some of the volunteers helping to clear up.

6.3 Team Workers 5 take responsibility, showing confidence in themselves and their contribution

I, as well as some of the other people from the art team, took turns to be in charge of the art exhibition room so it is my responsibility to look after the artworks. I showed confidence through my contribution by answering questions that people asked and wanted to know about the artworks.

6.4 Team Workers 6 provide constructive support and feedback to others

Some of the things went wrong for example the queues’ in the room with the face paint workshop and the nail workshop. I provided feedback to my team stating the things I saw that went wrong and what we could do in the future to prevent this from happening. I said we should have each activities in different room on their won so there’s more space.

6.4 Self Managers 4 anticipate, take and manage risks

There were some risks that we had to be aware of for example archery. I pointed out to my group about the archery and we had to manage the risk by putting two of the volunteers in charge of the archery. One volunteer in charge if the queue and the other volunteer in charge of instructing how to do archery.
