Cultural aspects

gender differentiation of clothing is considered appropriate for men and women

in Western societies, skirts, dresses and high-heeled shoes are usually seen as women's clothing

Islam requires women to wear hijab (the headscarf to the burqa)

in traditional Hawaiian society only high-ranking chiefs could wear feather cloaks
