Oamaru 奧馬魯Oamaru, the largest town in North Otago, in the South Island of New Zealand, is the main town in the Waitaki District. It is 80 kilometres south of Timaru and 120 kilometres north of Dunedin, on the Pacific coast, and State Highway 1 and the railway Main South Line connect it to both. Several white Oamaru stone key historic buildings in the area centered around Harbour Street and the lower Thames Street Itchen Street and Tyne Street have been preserved. Moeraki Boulders 摩拉基大圓石The Moeraki Boulders are a group of very large spherical “stones” on Koekohe Beach near Moeraki on New Zealand’s Otago coast. Some of the boulders weigh several tonnes and are up to 3 metres in diametre! Just some metres from the Church of the Good Shepherd is a monument to honour a good shepherd's best friend: the Sheepdog Monument. The sign at the bronze statue says that the grazing of the mountainous Mackenzie Country would be impossible without the help of the sheep dogs.
