.Biography.

Introduction. My name is Jan van Sinten, a 31 year old graduated Automotive Engineer from the Netherlands. I grew up in a village called Best, near Eindhoven. When I started my education at the HAN Institute of Automotive Engineering, I moved to Arnhem during the week where I was renting a room. At the weekends I stayed in Best at my parent’s house to be with my friends and work on my hobby. My education. After my four years at secondary school, I went to study at a Dutch intermediate technical school for Civil Engineering. During the four years at this school I got my driving license and, of course, a car. I was always talking about cars and people asked me why I was not studying to be a mechanic. I

told them that cars are my hobby but civil engineering would be my job. However during my final internship for civil engineering, I realized that I wanted more variation. So After I finished Civil Engineering and got my diploma, I went and registered to study at the HAN Institute of Automotive Engineering. My Hobbies. Since the day I got my driving license and my own car, I have always been busy with my car. In the beginning I would only carry out minor modifications like fitting different rims. Since I was studying at the HAN institute I got the idea to buy a second car as my ‘project’ car. I have rebuilt the engine of this car, just to learn about it. I have found out that there is nothing better than hands on experience. I now use this car for track days and am still working on it to make it perform better. Meanwhile I have learned to weld. Since I now have the knowledge to design and fabricate parts, I am putting this into practice on my ‘track day car’. I am trying to do as much as possible myself, like redesigning and fabricating parts and also repainting the body shell. My other hobbies are the rally and race sport. During my study at the HAN University I was a member of the student rally team (HART). This is a group of about 30 students that is self supporting and are maintaining and driving a rally car in the Dutch Short-rally Championship. At times I also help out different teams as a service mechanic during different American Classic races and Dutch rally events. Since 2011 I became a technical team manager of ‘VDZ Racing’. This is a rally team owned by a privateer whom I help with the maintenance and evolution of his rally car.
