Hej,
Møller i Stockholm.

AIM OF PROJECTI want to create a place where women:- come with their kids. - learn about food by cooking together. - kids are taken care of outside workshop. - after cooking session women, kids and the tutor eat together.
The project also aim to encourage women to go further away from their homes/communities and by doing so get more experiences and more information about the world they live in. At Let’s Cook the main topic is food and nutrition. It will also be possible to discuss in private with experts other issues that women in the slum have.
NGO has it’s office inside the slum and working from that to reach out to the
inhabitants.
Office & Workshop space
Smaller talks/workshops visits differens communities further away from the office.

RATIONAway from public street, so the women who feel ashame doesn’t have to be exposed.
WORKSHOP AREAVisible from street, one level up so they can talk and discuss undisturbed.
A SPACE TO EAT TOGETHERA calm nice space near the workshop and kid’s space, away from street. At the upper floor where the discussions can be continuned.
SPACE FOR KIDSA space near the workshop and the mothers. Should be a fun space for kids. Easy for the NGO staff to overlook the kids and have diffrent acticities. Away from street and closer to nature and trees.
GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITYGive back an open and clam semipublic area, make it better then what was before. A place for festivals or public events run by NGO. Away from street so the topics can differ.
NGO OFFICEOffice have two functions; 1. a place to plan activities and answer questions from public. 2. a private space where more private talks can be hold between woman and NGO. Therefore access from street and one level up.
COLLABORATIONSCollaborations; 1. food, from ration and buy from the street vendors. 2. with community around - keep the kitchen garden nice and to spread the word about good food and the courses and activities.

Food market (3rd semester)
ROOM FOR ACTIVITIESI see this market as a framework for activities to take place in. To be filled with colorful food, spices, meat, fish, cheese, crafts, second hand goods or to put up a concert inside the big hall or another event arranged by the market, the city, the hotel, a company or for a private event.
WHY the location? This is an unused place most of the time during the year, though people pass it everyday all year around. The big bike path connects the city center of consumption with the center of knowledge – the university and the hospital. The site is also close to the buss center –Vasa-plan– where all the bus lines connect. This part is also a grey zone now a day, in my opinion. To the left you have “Öst på stan” as you past Östra Kyrkogatan, and just one block away you will start to feel the center.
In the history of Umeå the site between the school and church has had different names and functions: church square, school park and as now “Vänortsparken”, a public park. In the 70’s the old city plan was ”destroy-ed” by the infrastructure that was built to make the city more adapted for car access. Storgatan got broader and a new bridge was build to connect both sides of the river. It was planned for 60 000 cars using the bridge every day. Today it’s about 15 000, so it is much larger then it has to be. The north south axis in the city plan be-tween the two great buildings, the church and the school, became secondary and inferior to the new street and it also had a negative infuence on the connection between the three parks Vänortsparken, Kyrk-parken and Döbelns Park.
I believe that a food market can bring life to this part again, linking to the old north-south axis but also high-light the movement of people in the west-east direction.

Since the market is based on natural materials such as wood, glass, metal and concrete it would be nice if the stalls would keep up the same theme.

Early THOUGHTS
PROCESS SKETCHES
EARLY PROCESS
Temporary structure (3rd semester)
We developed this structure to fit as a temporary one for a food market. The structure should create a space underneath it where the market can take place and it should also work like a bridge.
When folded it takes very little space and when unfolding it you can choose different figurations. Since it bridges over an already existing path we wanted it to be able see and walk through so it wouldn’t stop for the movement, just slowing it down giving attention to the the market stands so the market get its audience.
Group work with Emma Sandvik, Andreas Jonsson and Christina Lövald Hellberg.
SITUATION & Function
Stretch out over a movement that exists and create a new crossing It on a higher level.

Formations
Support Rod Rods are connected between the ground supporting elements in the structure. The wheel based structure folds and unfolds by external forces. This method allows for the structure to transform its shape.
Wire Wires are attached to the sides of the structure where the roof and the ground supporting structures meet and to the bottom of the ground supporting structures. The electric driven wires are also used to fold and unfold the structure. This method allows for the structure to transform its shape.
Rail Ground supporting elements are attached to a rail and can be locked in the rail at certain points. The electric rail is also the force unfolding and folding the structure. This method only allows the structure to fold out straight or bended according to the rail.
