I played the part of the tightrope artist, staggering like a drunk between the nothing and the excess. I am afraid of the blank page, so I flipped and filled it with nonsense things. Random thoughts, my paintings are born this way, as well as the confused lines that accompany them. In the end my ideas are always born this way. In those captions (some people call them poems) wrested from my memory, there are thoughts screaming in my head at the act of put-ting them on canvas. Each painting has its own story, but the job of telling it is its own and, even if not it’s not always done with the appropriate eloquence and clarity, I’m not al-lowed to steal its work. Terrible experience, reliving what is already past. It’s something I always avoid. But if, on one hand, the purpose of these pages is the will to create a collection of my first ten years of work, on the other, I wanted to tell, maybe to give, those who follow me something more.I tried to share more intimately those moments cut out from my life and hung on a wall, along with the difficult intent of not forcing the hand in some interpretative directions that have to be, in any case, free from the dirty substance of those stories that belong only to me. Stories I decided to tell this way, through symbols, partial abstractions: an Hyperuranion of emotions that belongs to all of us and that I decided to give to whom, like me, needs to share them with whom can listen to them.

Filippo Fanciotti is born on April 15 1988 in Genoa.Graduated in classical studies in Savona -july 2007- he began his Aca-demic career at the Faculty of Architecture in Genoa, where he is cur-rently working on his thesis. The painting comes part of Filippo’s life in 2002, when his grand-mother died, to whose will is linked the transition from drawing to painting. Completely autodidact, Fanciotti abandons himself to ex-perimentations through different tastes and techniques. His non-chalant eclecticism draws from the great masters, companions of his whole life: from the genius of expressionism to the Vienna Secession, from transavanguaria to Pop Art. Painting is an inseparable component of the other aspects of his life: the music that he composes at the piano creates images that can be translated into other images, pictures, songs, verses or form finding projects. Each element is freely intertwined to the others and, together, they give form to his artistic production.
