Being rooted in the local community, promoting the sfficient use of the local resources, pursuing our own “Hombo Quality” with the harmony of the history, culture, people and the technology. As one of a Japanese whisky, we will make unique whisky with “Hombo Quality”.

100 world’s whisky legend

100 people who made a brilliant history of whisky are named through UK’s whisky magazine. 4 people have been chosen from Japan. Kiichiro Iwai is one of a Japanese whisky legend. He is a person who sent Masataka Taketsuru in Scotland and he is strongly involved in Hombo’s Mars Whisky.

In 1960, Mars Whisky making started from pot still which is designed by Kiichiro Iwai.

The distillery’s pot still has passed over half century which was designed by Kiichiro Iwai, it renewed at the same standard in November, 2014. This shows determination and the resolution that succeeds the teaching and dying wishes as pot still that succeeds the soul of Iwai.

IWAI TRADITION 40% 750ML Through the vatting with superb balance of peaty unblended whisky and various casks, such as sherry cask, that is a blended Japanse whisky to be able to enjoy the softness of elegant taste, harmony with the sense of balance every time you taste. [2] JAPANESE BLENDED WHISKY

IWAI 40% 750ML One of the most important person whose name is Kiichiro Iwai. He is a pioneer of Japanese whisky. “IWAI TRADITION” is his traditional model for Mars Whisky. By contrast, Mars Whisky “IWAI” is more lightly taste. It is a blended Japanese whisky to create woody flavour and lightly taste that bring out to the full of the gorgeous aroma imparted by storage in bourbon barrels and that can be savoured freely at any time. It is a refreshing taste with a lingering.

Pot still is the symbol of whisky making. The history of Mars Whisky cannot describe without our pot stills. One of the most important person whose name is Kiichiro Iwai. He is a pioneer of Japanese whisky. In 1960, he designed our pot stills and advised for whisky making. Mars Whisky, with a respectful and a thankful to him, it releases the product which is named on “IWAI TRADITION”.

3. SHINSHU MARS DISTILLERY

The Shinshu Mars Distillery is located in Miyadamura at the foot of the Komagateke, which is the central alps of 798m elevations. It is a foggy and cool district where the temperature often goes down to 15 degrees below zero, and surrounded by the good quality natural pure water and the nature’s bounty.

Distillery is the highest altitude in Japan.

Climate – Over 30 degrees in Summer, -15 degrees in Winter. The temperature difference is 48 degrees. One of a special environment is effected on making whisky.
