02 Cultural understanding and exchanges
Beijing has a history of over 3,000 years with
a population of nearly 13 million and a lot of
places of interest around it. In recent years,
the city of Beijing has been advancing very
quickly. You can see many museums, parks
an shopping centers here and there. More
and more highways and overhead walkways
have been built up. What's more, a lot more
buses which burn cleaner fuel, such as CNG
or LPG, are put into use, to prevent air from
being polluted.
My hometown: Beijing
Must-see places
Tiananmen Square the world’s largest city
square
national flag hoisting and lowering ceremonies
Summer Palace The largest imperial
garden in China Listed as the world
cultural heritage
National Stadium (Bird’s nest) Main stadium of 2008
Beijing Olympic Games Opened as a tourist
attraction after the Olympics ended
Traditional snacks
Beijing cheese Tripe preserved fruit
Beijing has a time-honored history of producing various kinds of snacks with strong local flavors.

My major: Industrial Engineering
Industrial Engineering is concerned with the design,
improvement, and installation of integrated systems of
people, materials, information, equipment, and
energy. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skill in the
mathematical, physical, and social sciences together with the
principles and methods of engineering analysis and design to
specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained
from such systems.

Genetic algorithm for the Flexible Job-shop Scheduling Problem
The Flexible Job-shop Scheduling problem (FJSP) is a
generalization of the classical JSP, where operations are allowed
to be processed on any among a set of available machines. Then,
FJSP is more difficult than the classical JSP, since it introduces a
further decision level beside the sequencing one, i.e., the job
routes. To determine the job routes means to decide, for each
operation, what machine must process it, among the available
ones.

Measurement and simulation of Classroom Lighting
Using the DIAlux software to simulate the scene of the classroom
of artificial lighting. The image of the desktop, blackboard and
ground, the pseudo color map, the distribution table and the
simulation rendering effect of the 3D lighting are obtained. The
results are compared with the actual measurement results.
