Op 14 mei 2014 presenteerden Anita van Essen en Reint Jan Renes het grootschalige veldonderzoek dat het lectoraat crossmediale communicatie in het publieke domein uitvoerde naar de drijfveren van reisgedrag. Dit deden ze op de internationale conferentie 'Smart Sustainable Innovation: The Global Perpective'. Naast Anita en Reint Jan waren ook Baukje Stinesen en Jonas Moons bij het onderzoek betrokken.
