Conventions of Creepy Kid Horror Sub-Genre• A child usually possessed by a demon or some sort of paranormal

figure causing it to perform its acts usually violent.• Religion is often a prominent figure in these films.• There are usually main protagonists in the film who try to save the

child in some sort of ritual. Insidious

What will happen:

• Main characters walk towards some sort of abandoned structure or house with establishing shots of the location.

• Main protagonists ( 3 people) will be trying to film a standard as media opening horror sequence• They will be filming this in some sort of abandoned or creepy location • While they are filming one of group goes off to see if he can find a better location to shoot • The protagonists carry on filming and get interrupted by a loud bang where there friend had gone too• They ignore it thinking it is him moving some debris out of the way to find a better location to film.• Then at the second bang they shout up to their friend asking if he is ok no reply comes• They then go to investigate leaving the camera still recording and while they are gone cut to the camera still

recording and it sees feet of a ghostly looking child walk past laughing.• The friends come back down hearing this and assuming their friend is downstairs playing a trick on them so

they go back to camera realizing it is still on stop it recording.• They look back on the footage and see the feet then as they look up they see their friend dead hanging in

front of them and creepy kid jumps out at camera and opening sequence stops.

How are we meeting the conventions:

• We are meeting the conventions as the ghostly child will be wearing a costume that highly relates to religion or anti-religion.

• We are also meeting the conventions as our main antagonist is going to be said creepy child obviously possessed by a demon or paranormal spirit doing violent acts.

• We are also meeting the conventions as the main protagonists, The boys filming the media project, will be trying to save their friend which is a key convention.

What are our narrative enigmas?

• One of our narrative enigmas will be what happened to the group of boys filming the media project.

• Another of our narrative enigmas will be who is this child and why are they in this abandoned house.

• Another narrative enigma will be can this child be stopped and what more violence will it cause.

Main targets:• One main target would be to have a abandoned or derelict location to

film in.• Another main target will be for the costume to relate to religion or

anti- religion to suit our sub-genre• Another main target will be for the makeup to look real on the dead

friend as well as the creepy kid.• Another main target will be for the audience to get scared by the

jump scare and not expect it so editing will need to be used to create suspense and tension.

Optional extension: Inspirations for our OTS

The use of religious crosses and the girls costume here is like something we want

to use for our OTS.The abandoned house here seen in the woman in black

would be the sort of abandoned house that inspired us to use it as a

location.
