HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD MADE

PROGRESS FROM LAST YEAR?

To do:

Step 1 - Find your

child’s achievement

level from 2015.

Step 2 – Find your

child’s achievement

level from 2016.

TABLE DISCUSSION

Guiding Questions:

• Looking at Sophia’s Student Score Report, what

are her areas of strength in ELA and Math?

• What are Sophia’s areas of need in ELA and Math?

• Did Sophia make progress from 2015 to 2016?

How do you know?

CLAIM RESULTS TO TARGETS TO STANDARDS

What is your child’s teacher doing with the data?

• Using claim-level results to identify areas of relative

strength and weakness

• Using the assessment blueprint to identify targets

within the claims

• Use the claim-target-standard document to identify

underpinning standards, depth of knowledge, and

how the targets are assessed.

services/california-standards/assessment/

Page 12: Presenters: Froylan Villanueva...Presenters: Froylan Villanueva Veterans Principal froylan.villanueva@cvesd.org Jameson Rienick Veterans Associate Principal jameson.rienick@cvesd.org

TABLE DISCUSSION

Guiding Questions:

• Pretend you are looking at Sophia’s CELDT Student

Performance Level Report, what are her areas of

strength?

• What are Sophia’s areas of need?

• How might Sophia’s CELDT report connect to her

CAASPP report? Compare and contrast them.

Page 13: Presenters: Froylan Villanueva...Presenters: Froylan Villanueva Veterans Principal froylan.villanueva@cvesd.org Jameson Rienick Veterans Associate Principal jameson.rienick@cvesd.org

WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?

Now that you analyzed both reports for Sophia,

reflect on your own child’s progress on the

CAASPP and CELDT.

• What are your child’s areas of strength and

areas of need in academics?

• What questions might you ask your child’s

teacher based on the two CAASPP and CELDT

reports?
