Preparation

Powder

Your baby's health depends on carefully following these directions. Proper hygiene, handling and storage are important when preparing infant

formula. Failure to follow these directions could result in severe harm. Ask your baby's doctor if you need to use cooled, boiled water for

mixing and if you need to boil (sterilize), bottles, nipples and rings before use.

l Wash your hands, surfaces and utensils.

l Pour desired amount of water into clean bottle (see Powder Mixing Guide).

l Add 1 unpacked level scoop (9.4 g) to each 2 fl oz of water; return dry scoop to can.

l Cap bottle; shake well; attach nipple.

l Once feeding begins, use within 1 hour or discard.

For most accurate results, EleCare should be weighed on a scale that reads in grams.

The contents of one container (400 g), when mixed as directed (at 20 Cal/fl oz), will yield approximately 95 fl oz of formula.

Preparation

Cleanliness is important. Before preparing and filling bottles, wash your hands thoroughly.

Bottles DO NOT require sterilization before first use. AFTER FIRST USE, follow these instructions for preparation and use:

l Wash bottles and caps in hot, soapy water and rinse thoroughly; or wash in top rack of dishwasher.

l Your healthcare professional may recommend that you sterilize bottles before filling them with breast milk.

l Fill bottles with breast milk. Cap and refrigerate or freeze them promptly. If bottles are not filled immediately, replace caps until needed.

Rinse bottle and cap following use to prevent milk from sticking to bottle.

Filled bottles should be stored in refrigerator and used as directed by your healthcare professional. Breast milk should be used or frozen within

48 hours of expressing. Leave some empty space at the top of the bottle for milk to expand as it freezes. Label all bottles with name, date, and

time. When ready to use frozen breast milk, swirl bottle under warm tap water to thaw. Feed thawed breast milk right away or refrigerate; do

not refreeze.

WARNING: Never use a microwave oven to thaw or heat milk. Serious burns can result.

Immediate Use

l Pour desired quantity of human milk into sterile feeding container.

l Product separation is normal. Massage contents until uniform.

When Stored
