Only if they meet Buy With Confidence’s strict standards will they be approved.

Whilst we make every effort to ensure that members comply with the law we cannot guarantee that their work will never give rise to a complaint. However, should this be the case, any difficulties should be dealt with fairly and without undue delay.

Mae’r chwe adran Safonau Masnach yng Ngogledd Cymru wedi dod at ei gilydd er mwyn darparu cynllun cymeradwyo masnachwyr ar gyfer trigolion a busnesau’r ardal, sef Prynwch Efo Hyder.

Mewn ymateb i bryderon am ‘fasnachwyr twyllodrus’, cafodd y cam arloesol o greu’r cynllun Prynwch Efo Hyder ei gymryd yn wreiddiol gan bartneriaeth o awdurdodau lleol yn Ne Lloegr. Mae’r cynllun yn darparu ar gyfer cwsmeriaid restr o fusnesau lleol sydd wedi ymrwymo i fasnachu mewn ffordd deg. Mae cyfres o wiriadau manwl wedi cael eu cynnal ar bob busnes a restrir ac mae’r Safonau Masnach wedi eu harchwilio cyn eu cymeradwyo i fod yn aelodau o’r cynllun.

Er mwyn bod yn aelod o Prynwch Efo Hyder, mae’n rhaid i fusnes yn y lle cyntaf ymgeisio neu gael eu hargymell i ymuno â’r cynllun ac yna mae’n rhaid iddynt lwyddo mewn cyfres o wiriadau penodol. The six Trading Standards services of North Wales have come together in an effort to work collaboratively in order to deliver to the residents and businesses of the area the nationally recognised trader approval scheme, Buy With Confidence.

In response to concerns about ‘rogue traders’, a ground-breaking step of putting together the Buy With Confidence Scheme was originally taken by a partnership of local authorities in Southern England. The scheme provides consumers with a list of local businesses which have given their commitment to trading fairly. Every business listed has undergone a series of detailed checks and have been audited by Trading Standards before being approved as a member of the scheme.

In order to become a Buy With Confidence member, a business must first apply or be reccomended to join the scheme and must then pass a set of tailored background checks. Membership of the scheme is not given lightly - amongst other checks, each applicant will have their complaints history reviewed and will receive a visit from Trading Standards. Good references are required from previous customers and applicants must agree to abide by the scheme’s code of conduct, which requires them to follow the letter and spirit of the law. A significant benefit of this scheme is that all members of BWC have been verified by a Trading Standards professional as part of the application process, and are continued to be monitored for their quality of service whilst on the scheme.

Whilst the scheme is open to any manner of businesses wishing to apply to advertise themselves as “Trading Standards Approved”, the six Trading Standards Services in North Wales are particularly interested to hear from those in the home maintenece and gardening sectors, domestic cleaners and general skilled tradesmen.
