    Any Blast Guard can relay an Emergency StopCall to the Blast Controller.

    Prior to the blast the area must be clear of workers and all plant. At this point the blast guards will move into position. All workers must go to the nominated evacuation area.

    Prior to the blast a physical check of the area.will be conducted to ensure the blast zone is clear of workers.

    Close motorway and adjoining roads to traffic. Chase car to check motorway is clear. IT28 Loader and grader in position in case of fly rock.

    Warning siren sounded.

    Final Radio check with full radio silence required after that.

    Shot firer to countdown and then fire shot.

    Inspect for misfire, debris or fly rock on road.

    All clear sounded once there have been 3 short siren blasts. Blast Controller authorises all clear for traffic. Roads are then opened by the blast guards.

    If you discover a misfire during excavation: Stop work immediately and withdraw from the area. Inform your Supervisor.

    Shot firer will determine if it is safe to refire the shot.

    Once vibration sources are identified the aim is to ensure that construction activitiesdo not cause excessive vibration damage either within or adjacent to the site.
