Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Storyteller:

Our children had a very noisy

interactive programme with the

storyteller.

Andrew Wright was a most

entertaining Storyteller,

amusing us all with tales from

Africa and Canada.

The final fable he told had strong links to our Kia Kaha topic. Ask your children about it.

New Zealand Post Book Awards - Mastermind:

Mrs Rooy attended the Book Awards Mastermind competition today at Plimmerton School. The competition this year was divided into Y5-6 and Y7-8 due to high numbers of participants. The Mastermind quiz focussed on questions related to the New Zealand Book Awards choices covering a range of fiction and non-fiction themes. Our Results are:

Our Y5-6 No 1 team came fourth out of thirteen teams. The results for the Y7-8 teams will be in next week’s newsletter. The children had a great time at the competition and reading the books in preparation for the event. A special thanks to Mrs. Rooy for organising and coaching our teams. The children are so enthusiastic and keen - its great to see such passion around literacy. Netball Results Saturday May 7:

Aquatics Programme:

This year all classes will participate in aquatics programmes at Cannons Creek Pool. The junior

programme commences in Week 5, and the Y5 - Y8 programme starts in week 8. Team leaders will be

sending home newsletters outlining the organisation for this programme and requesting parent help.

The children are transported to the pool by bus. We have been very busy applying for grants to fund

this programme and have raised $8000 so far. We are very grateful for funds we have received from

We are awaiting the outcome of a further application.

We have been successful almost every year in attracting grants to provide the programme at no cost to

families. Our fundraising Trust support us in this and have agreed to meet the shortfall - if we are

unsuccessful in this latest application.

The aquatics programme is provided every year for Y0-4 and every second year for Y5-8 to ensure all

of our children are safe and confident in the water.

Year 7-8 Camp:

Ms Henkes and her team have begun planning for the Y7-8 camp to be held

in Term 4. They are exploring several venues and will confirm venue, dates

and approximate cost in the next couple of weeks.

Choir:

Bridget O'Shanassy is leading choir again this term in preparation for Artsplash. Unfortunately due to

study commitments Bridget will not be able to offer choir from September onwards. Bridget has

extended a special invitation to senior students to join choir for the term for Artsplash. If your children

wish to participate please complete the return and include payment of $10.00 to enrol.

Enjoy the sport this weekend.
