PUP• A potentially unwanted
program is a piece of software that is also downloaded when a user downloads a specific program or application.
• Generally, PUPs have undesirable effects on a user's computer. Once downloaded, a PUP may run various background
processes that slow the computer down, or it may display numerous annoying advertisements.
• Most often, PUPs are downloaded and installed with legitimate applications, and users are unaware of these additional installations because they do not read agreements thoroughly.
PHISHING• to “fish” for passwords
and personal information by trickery on internet. (Sometimes by setting up aphony URL which people sign in to by giving their passwords or credit card numbers.)
IDENTITY THEFT• is a “trick”which involves stealing money or gaining other benefits by pretending to be someone else. WARNING SIGNS:
• You get an email, SMS or a phone call out of the blue asking you to ‘validate’ or ‘confirm’ banking details.
• You notice that amounts of money go missing from your bank account without any explanations.
• The caller pushes you to provide personal information and discourages you from checking if it’s a genuine request.
• You are unable to obtain credit or a loan because of an sudden bad credit rating.
NEVER send money or give personal details to people you don’t know and trust!!!
