Review: Slumdog Millionaire

A young street kid makes it to the final round of Mumbai's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? and ends up in the police station with battery cables on his toes. Did he cheat? Or could the 'slumdog' from the ghetto actually know the answers? Over the course of this kinetic and colourful Danny Boyle movie, we see how small choices make a big moral difference over time. Sweet and thoroughly charming, Slumdog Millionaire is an easy bet.

Scars of Oscar

A boy was living in a slum happily. One fine morning a Hollywood director signs him for a movie on slums. The movie wins Oscars and the boy becomes international hero. Visit to Hollywood, International media attention, suddenly the boy finds himself in a new world. Endless interviews, camera flashes etc etc. Tired of all this , he refuses interviews and his fathers starts beating him. For him (the father) this is a golden opportunity and he could not see it just slipping away. The Government also gives them a good house and the boy is shifted to a new school. But nobody was willing to befriend this kid in his new school. They still treat him as a boy with excreta all over his body though he washed it long back. The boy starts hating his new overnight change in his life and one fine day, walks back to him slum.

Ending Shot: He walks into a western toilet, throws an angry look at the commode and th

e toilet paper there, thrashes it, takes out an empty Bisleri bottle, fills it up with water, and starts walking to the fields….

Away from Hollywood…… Away from Media……. Away from Govt……. Away from Public…….
