Installation

•InstallthesoftwareforWindows.Thedriverswillnotbeinstalled automatically,butcanbefoundintheiColorfolderortheCD. MacOSXdoesnotneedanydrivers.Justopenthediskimage(dmg) andcopytheiColorDisplaytotheapplicationsfolder.

•AttachthesensortoafreeUSB-port.Fixthesensor´sUSB-cableto thecabletieasshownintheillustration.Ifyouuseanon-Quato display,usethecounterweighttosetupthesensorattachement.

•Alwaystakecarethatthecorrecttypeofmeasurementdeviceis selected.Ifyoufailtodoso,nocalibrationwillbepossible.

•NeverattachsuctioncupsonTFTpanels.Youmightdestroy thewholepanelandlosethelimitedwarrantyofthedisplay.

•Neverleavethemeasurementdeviceonthescreenlongerthan necessaryasthedevicestendtodeviatewhentheyheatup.

•iColorDisplayallowsyoutoadjustthefollowingitemsin co-operationwithameasurementdevice.

-gamma(onTFTsthatsupporthardwaregamma) -brightnessandcontrast(analogueTFT/CRT) -whitepoint(colortemperature)andluminance

•iColorDisplaysupportsavarietyofdifferentmeasurement devices.Itisnecessarytoselectthecorrectdevice.Selectyour measurementdeviceinthefirstwindow.

•Startthe„iColorDisplay“application,andthestartuppanelwillbe displayed.Navigatethroughthedifferentfunctionpanelsby clickingthebuttonsdirectly.

•Youreachedtheoptimumvaluesassoonasthequality indicatorisincentralposition,startstogloworthemessage boardsaidthatthemeasurementwascompleted.Youcanalso stopameasurementbypressingtheStop-buttonintheeventthat anoptimaladjustmentisimpossible.

•Continuewiththenextstepandamessageoccursthatyoushould placethedeviceonanopaquesurface(DTP94,SilverHazepro, Spyder2colorimeter)oronthewhitetile(EyeOnespectrometer).

•NowadjustgammaifyourTFTsupportshardwaregamma(refer tothedisplay´smanualforthesupportedcoloradjustments).

•Nowadjustthebrightness.PresstheStart-buttonandopen yourmonitor´sOSD.Adjustthebrightnessthereuntilthe qualityindicatorstartstogloworreachestheaxis´center.

NOTICE:Skipthebrightnesswithdigitally-connectedTFTs.

•Nowadjustthecontrast.PresstheStart-buttonandopen yourmonitor´sOSD.Adjustthecontrastthereuntilthe qualityindicatorstartstogloworreachestheaxis´center.

•Nowadjustthewhitepoint.Pressthe Start-buttonandopenyourmonitor´s OSD.Adjustthecolortemperature thereuntilthethreequalityindicators starttogloworreachtheaxis´ centre.Thesoftwarealsoreportsthe reachedcolortemperatureandthe luminanceinthispanel.

•Atfirst,selectthetypeofcalibrationyouwanttoperform.

•SetthecalibrationpreferenceintheEasyorAdvancedMode. ISO12646recommendsaluminanceof120-160cd/m2.The exactvaluehighlydependsonyourenvironmentallight.Please makesurethatthegammaoftheworkingspace(forexamplein AdobePhotoshop)andthegammaofthecalibrationmatch.If youareunsure,usetheeasymodeandselectyourworkingspace. Gamma1.8 ->ECI-RGB1.0 Gamma2.2 ->Adobe-RGB sRGB ->sRGB L* ->ECI-RGB2.0

ICC-colormanagementdefinesD50andthestandard.Formonitors, this5.000KdoesnotmatchaD50viewingbooth.Itistherefore bettertoadjustthemonitortotheviewingbooth´svisual appearance.Inthiscaseuseawhitepointof5.600to6.000K.

•Nowstarttheprofilingandcalibration.Remainingdeviations inrespectofWhitepoint,Gamma,luminanceandlinearitywillbe compensatedbytheICC-profile.Themoretheprofilehastocorrect, thelowerthecalibrationprecisionwillbeandthemorebanding willbevisible. •Iftheresultsdonotmatchyourvisualrequirements,youcan adjustthethreecolorsintheCurves-panelvisually.

•SavetheprofileasLUTorMatrixtype.Achromaticadaptionis automaticallyswitchedonwithwhitepointsotherthanD50.The profileisautomaticallyactivatedandisfoundatthefollowingpath:

•Youcannowquitthesoftwareandstartusingtheprofile.A monthlyorbi-monthlyrecalibrationisrecommendedforTFTs.
