Please remember to bring your canned goods for the Senior Center Pantry. Next month we will have the pleasure of seeing some lovely Judy Nie- meyer quilts when Denise Green presents the January program. I would like to thank you all for the opportunity to serve as president again this year. It is hard for me to believe that it is over – it seems to have flown by. We have accomplished much this year: good Auction, very nice display at the bank during the Peach Festival, lovely Quilt Show with our wonderful Quilt Show Quilt, made a beautiful Senior Center quilt, published the 1 st QGPC cookbook and provided many comfort quilts to our community. I have been fortunate with my board this year – once again they have assisted where they could, many of them going above and beyond what one would expect of their position. If you have an opportunity, please thank the folks who have worked so hard to make this year a success. I am sure that Kathleen will put together a good board and if she should ask for your assistance, please seriously consider getting in- volved. No one person can take care of or run our guild – it takes eve- ryone pitching in to make it all happen. There are more good things to come!!! My hope for you all is that you and your families have a truly blessed Christmas and healthy and happy 2013. Until we see each other at the Guild meeting – happy stitching, Dianna

Workshop News

Since this will be my last submission to the newsletter this year as a member of the board, I would like to thank the guild and board members for allowing me to coordinate the workshops for 2012. It has been a wonderful and enlightening experience, and I have enjoyed getting to know the guild membership better as I watched you learn new things and express your creativity in the workshops. As far as workshops go, there are none scheduled until June, and I am sure that information will be coming in future newsletters and meetings. From the look of the calendar that our outgoing VP, Kay Parr, has put together, we will have a great deal of fun and fellowship in 2013.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all,

Melanie

QUILTER’S GUILD OF PARKER COUNTY

GUILD MEETING NOVEMBER 15, 2012

Dianna Carter Hinz president called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and welcomed members and guests. A

call for any additions or corrections to the minutes as published in the October newsletter was made. Being

none, Kay Parr moved we accept the minutes as printed, Margery Churchville seconded, motion passed.

Judy McDonald treasurer has the financial report available. Tonight we have the ladies from the Granbury

Guild who are selling tickets for their raffle quilt. Thanks to members for supporting the canned food drive

for the Senior Center. Tonight there were 13 items donated.

Thanks to Judy Bell and Kris Doughty for being greeters tonight. Myra Hall and Grace Jackson volunteered

for December.

Dianna Carter Hinz presented the Senior Center Representative, Trish Medders, the completed 2012 Sen-

ior Center quilt. The red and tan quilt was beautiful and Ms. Medders was appreciative of the donation.

Will Simpson conducted Show and Tell. Many beautiful quilts were shown. He reminded everyone to bring

their quilts in December if you entered the UFO Challenge. Joyce Coney, comfort quilts, reports 24 complet-

ed quilts from the sew in, 6 tops done, and some returned tonight.

Becky Klein, membership, reported 56 members present, 4 visitors, and 3 new members. Annual dues are

being taken tonight and are due in January. Door prizes were awarded to: Melanie Lindsey, Judy Bell, Beth

Collins, Donna Napier, Andrea Killius, and Jean Lolly.

Melanie Lindsey stated she still has a few openings for the Susan Cranshaw workshop on Saturday. Also

Andrea Killius was taking the $100. deposit for the January retreat at Our House in Milford.

No unfinished business and no new business. Kay Parr, vice president stated that in December we will have

installation of officers, UFO Challenge, our Christmas party, and a few surprises. Membership will bring a

savory snack and board members will bring sweets. Also a special request for more canned goods for the

Senior Center.

Kay Parr introduced Susan Cranshaw for our program. She was accompanied by her sister, Michelle. They

showed many interesting quilts done with raw edge appliqué.

Dianna Carter Hinz wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Barbara Calderon moved we adjourn, Judy

Fitagerald seconded, motion carried at 8:15 pm.

Respectfully submitted: Myra Hall, secretary

Library News

Over the last few months I have been inventorying the library. After the first of the year, I’ll have a new list for the website. There are lots and lots of books that are never checked out. You guys re-ally need to use our library. See you all at the Christmas Party. The Library will be closed so we can party, party, party.

RETREAT/COOKBOOK

There are only a few places left for the Retreat if you are interested in attending please see me or call

817-441-2471.

There are still some cookbooks available. Remember they make great stocking stuffers or a nice hostess gift.

Andrea Killius

Exchange Bee

The Exchange Bee will be starting a new block exchange of uneven nine patches. I will pass out the patterns in January. I wanted to get it done before now but health problems and holidays have delayed my progress. Things are better and I am ready for this exchange. I have a pattern that Kay Parr found last year at the Houston quilt festival and it is wonderful. It uses small uneven nine patches made with one light and one dark. I am still working on writing the instructions to make several alike for our exchange. Everyone is invited to join this Bee. We don't have regular meetings. We make the blocks and turn them at the Guild meetings where they are sorted and given back. You get back the same amount that you turn in. I have found this method the best way to fairly sort the blocks. Look for me at the January meeting for the pattern for the next blocks.

UFO Challenge

This is your final reminder that if you signed up for the UFO Challenge, please do not forget to bring in your project. Also we will have our normal Show and Tell before the UFO Show, so I encourage everyone to bring in any special Christmas Quilt that you are going to give away to someone special so we can see it before it has a new home. Once again I want to thank everyone that has made Show and Tell such fun this year. Merry Christmas Will

Christmas Party

This year we will have the installation of officers and the UFO challenge events to add to our Christmas party

and regular business meeting. We will not have a member gift exchange as we have had the last 2 years.

The Board felt that the addition of the installation and the showing of the UFO challenge quilts will lengthen

the business meeting taking away valuable party time, and of course we want plenty of time to eat and visit!

The concern was that carrying out the exchange too would cause the meeting to be extremely long.

In the spirit of giving during this Holiday Season – members are asked to bring at least 2 cans or more of

food for the Senior Center Food Pantry . During the year food is brought for this purpose, but it would be

nice to make a sizable donation here at Christmas. The Center always requests hearty soups and canned

meat. However, all donations of any non-perishable sort will be appreciated. Thank you for participating in

this effort.
