The future of energy, all under one roof.

Regenerco Power.

Regenerco Power was established in 2009 to address the renewable energy needs of the UK commercial sector. Working with City based funders we have invested more than £30 million on installations, and today we’re a market leader.

Over the past seven years, through the leadership of Nigel Price, we have delivered Solar Photovoltaic (PV) projects to commercial and public sector organisations across the UK.

Building on our solar PV experience, we have extended our portfolio to include investments in:

BiomassEnergy Efficiency

Micro Biomass

CHP Anaerobic Digestion

02 | Introduction

Investment in alternative energy is being driven by multiple factors, including:

• A consumer demand to reduce and secure long term power costs.

• UK demand for energy is outstripping capacity

• UK is behind carbon reduction targets set and agreed at Kyoto summit

• The growth in global demand for energy

• The effects of climate change, requiring the reduction of emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases

• The depletion of North Sea oil and gas

• A huge increase in world population, leading to a projected 34% increase in energy needs.

This means we need to re-think our approach to sourcing and using energy.

Regenerco Power

Renewable Energies

We aim to help organisations to improve their environmental impact through sustainable renewable energy systems and low or zero carbon technologies.

Renewable energy is a key part of the UK’s strategy to provide 15% of our energy requirements from renewable sources by 2020.

Energy Efficiency

Energy Efficiency is at the heart of the Government’s approach to tackling climate change and ensuring safe, secure and affordable energy supplies. Regenerco can help businesses to identify ways to reduce energy consumption by using on-site energy surveys, through to project management and implementation of schemes.

A typical business wastes 20% of their energy costs through inefficient building design or equipment. We can identify where savings can be made, for example by insulating buildings or by replacing roofs or walls with energy efficient panels, which can slash energy bills by 60%.

Regenerco Power funds all its clients’ energy saving planning and installation. With no upfront costs, businesses simply pay for the latest energy saving products and systems we install, funded out of the energy savings. From the start, customers know how much money the project will cost and how long it will take to repay.

At the end of the agreement term, ownership of the assets is transferred to the customer.

Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic Digestion (AD) is the harnessing of natural biological processes to produce renewable methane, which can then produce electricity and heat.

Almost any biomass can be processed, including energy crops, crop residues, slurry, manure and food waste - from homes, supermarkets, industry and farms - which means less waste goes into landfill.

Supported by a comprehensive supply chain and partner network, Regenerco Power is delivering more large-scale waste AD plants than anyone else in the UK.

We deliver competitive quality AD infrastructure with low whole life costs.

By 2018, every new building in the UK will need to reach BREEAM environmental performance standards before it is let to a third party.

Regenerco Power can manage the extra cost of building BREEAM compliant buildings by taking over the installation and management of compliant materials and systems on clients’ behalf, liberating the building industry from this expensive obligation.

BREEAM

Every hour the sun radiates enough heat to satisfy global energy needs for an entire year. It’s pollution and noise-free.

Solar PV harnesses and uses this energy, but even then, we’re currently only producing less than one tenth of one percent of global energy demand.

The UK has significant solar and thermal resources. PV panels can generate renewable energy for on-site use or export to the grid even when the sky is overcast. They provide a healthy return on investment and, as the technology becomes cheaper while oil, gas and electricity prices rise, they save money on mains energy.

Solar PV panels effectively turn dead roofspace into worthwhile income, reducing energy bills, cutting carbon emission and providing a hedge against rising power prices.

Solar PV

Biomass most often refers to fuel composed of organic matter such as timber and crops. The carbon dioxide absorbed during growth balances the carbon emissions during burning - in short, this is a carbon neutral heating option.

The UK biomass sector could expand without detrimental effects on food supplies or the environment. Biomass energy is renewable and can dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared with fossil fuels. It is also very cost effective.

Biomass can be used from small sub-200Kw units for retirement homes and micro-generation plants to large generating plants that can help major industry and power producers.

Biomass

CHP

Combined Heat & Power - or cogeneration - employs a single on-site power source for both heat and light. Typically a gas engine provides hot water and powers a generator which delivers the electricity. Any waste heat is captured and used. The power generation is more efficient, so more energy is saved and usable

With power supplied from a remote power station, there are significant losses both in waste heat and transmission en route to the appliance. With generation on-site, CHP operates more efficiently.

Case study

Regenerco Renewable Energy Limited - South Cambridgeshire DC

When South Cambridgeshire District Council had a £4m contract to place for the installation of PV energy generation in 376 homes, they turned to Regenerco to manage it, relying on Mitie Plc for the large scale installation and Albion Ventures Llp to fund it.

The 1.2 MW installation generated energy which provided residents with free power, saving £150 off each home’s annual expenditure.

When a slightly smaller project arose, South Cambridgeshire DC felt that Regenerco had performed so well that they extended Regenerco’s contract. Cleaner Air Solutions were selected for the installation and, once more, Albion Ventures Llp provided the funding.

The installation generates 736.08 kW of power per annum.

202 homes were made largely independent of The Grid, enjoying £150 in annual electricity savings while helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the community.

Case study

Alternate Energies Limited - Colchester Borough Council

Working with our installation partner Breyer Group Plc, and backed by Downing Llp, Regenerco Power arranged the installation of PV roof panels on 251 homes in a £3m contract for Colchester Borough Council.

This completed project relieves the National Grid of the need to generate 814.25 kW of power, at no cost to the environment.

Regenerco gave each householder free power, resulting in an average value of power saved per home amounting to £150 - a substantial saving for stretched household, and supported accommodation, budgets.

Case Study | 05

Supported by funding from one of Regenerco’s funding partners, Guinness Asset Management, Regenerco leased the roof space from National Express and installed the Solar PV panels.

Regenerco own the panels and the energy produced throughout the life of the agreement. National Express benefit from Regenerco’s greatly reduced price charged for the power generated - this is linked to RPI and not subject to the fluctuation and inflation of power costs. After 20 years Regenerco will sell them to National Express for £1 and cease charging for the power.

National Express wanted to install Solar PV roof panels, but didn’t want the considerable capital investment.

06 | About Regenerco Power

We work in partnership with City investors, raising money through a variety of schemes such as Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS), Inheritance Tax Planning (IHT) and Crowd Funding.

In partnership with funders, legal teams and end users, we create the necessary EPC and O & M contracts and commercial frameworks.

Once the project assets are installed and operational, producing qualifying renewable energy, Regenerco Power runs and operates the business for our investors.

Regenerco is a power provider to our installation partners, whether for electricity or heat is required - guaranteeing utility savings for the contract team.

The energy to run a growing companyRegenerco Power owner Nigel Price

Our Business Model Companies created and run by Regenerco Power

For the majority of Nigel’s business career he has stood at the pinnacle of change. Nigel’s early career ranged from helping to power a high end giftware company to a £50m+ turnover, to retail consultancy for the Royal Household. In the course of this, he developed a network of City funders and identified immeasurable potential in the renewable energy market.

Nigel has been involved within the sector for the past seven years, making a special study of the environmental and technical potential of PV energy generation while building and developing businesses for leading City investors.

In 2009, Nigel founded Regenerco Power as one of the first enterprises to deliver energy efficiency through sustainable renewable energy systems for commercial and public sector organisations. Nigel focuses his energy and drive on sustainable business growth for the company.
