Renewable sources of energy: -wind power-solar energy

-geothermal energy-biomass energy

-hydropower

An ecological, clean and waste-free source of energy.Windmills are located in an area surrouding Ostrów , Raszków , Wysocko Wielkie , Gorzyce Wielkie.

Solar power

The sun is a source of energy for all known creatures living on the Earth. Approximately 30% of the solar radiation is reflected by the atmosphere, with 20% being absorbed by it , and only 50% of the energy reaches the surface of our planet.

Geothermal energy

The use of the Earth’s thermal energy through wells dug to naturally hot ground water.

Thermal water discovered in Uniejów in 1978 at the depth of

approximately 2 km. In 2001 people began to extract this

thermal water in order to use its natural heat in the heating

system.

A heat pump in the Technical School Complex (ZST) in Ostrów Wlkp.

A heat pump makes it possible to use thermal energy from low-temperature sources. It absorbs heat from low-temperature sources and transmits it to a source with warmer temperatures.

Biomass energyA combined heat and power plant in Ostrów Wielkopolski (OZC)- over a half of the fuel used for heating in Ostrów comes from an ecological biomass solid fuel in the form of woodchips. In 2007 the OZC plant began production of heat and energy from biomass in a combined heat and power system. The heat produced by OZC is fully ecological, which results in smaller Co2 emissions into the atmoshpere.

HydropowerOstrów is located in a

lowland area. That is why there are poor conditions

for the application of hydropower.

In Kalisz (25 km away from Ostrów) there is a historic hydroelectric

power plant.
