Understanding Retrograde PlanetsMaster Class

Retrograde PlanetsIn the above example, all planets would be retrograde. Mercury and Venus are movingfaster and at the same part of their orbit as the Earth. The Earth is doing the samerelative to Saturn Mars and Jupiter.

At times, based on the speed of a planet it will appear to be moving backwards to ushere on Earth. This phenomena is similar to how a slower moving car will appear tomove backwards when riding in a faster moving car. Retrograde planets have an innatestrength as they are closer to the Earth at that time. Yet, having strength does notnecessarily mean they will give good worldly results. As confirmed by our observation,the retrograde planet will seem to back up in our mind and consciousness.

In such cases,the innate quality of the retrograde planet will be important and developedinternally to the native, as well as the psychology of the planet (psychology is internal).

However, the things in life ruled by the retrograde planet AS A HOUSE RULER AND

ORGANIC, LIVING KARAKA will not unfold smoothly. This is because our life on Earth,

through form, unfolds in a linear fashion. Or you might say, life on Earth, time, movesforward to our bodies - the retrograde planet is moving backwards relative to how ourlife on Earth is unfolding.

Example:Jupiter retrograde for a Libra Ascendant will support and compel the native to seekwealth, wisdom, a higher sense of purpose and meaning. Tthese are all traits of Jupiteras a non-living karaka or indicator.

However, Jupiter is the karaka of children and teachers (living things) and for Libraascendant rules the third house (courage, self-will, interests) and the sixth house (debts,

competition and facing unpleasantness). Thus the Libra native with retrograde Jupitermay have difficulty with siblings, acting with courage, experimenting and trying newthings, managing debts and expenses. These are all traits of the third and the sixthhouses. The qualities ruled by Jupiter as a house Lord will be compromised whenretrograde.

Generally the things a retrograde planet rules as a house ruler become sources ofconfusion relative to satisfying its external aim. This crisis of confident action becomesthe catalyst for the introspection that follows.

For example, using retrograde Jupiter for Libra as an example, you may see a

confusing relationship with siblings and other ally types of relationships. This confusionbrings indecision about what to do, which causes more reflection.

House and Sign of the Retrograde Planet

The house occupied by the retrograde planet shows the type of activities that challengeor involve them.

The sign/dignity will determine the ease or stress through which those things unfold andthe deeper lessons realized.

By Transit

When A planet goes retrograde in the sky the same principles apply. Meaning, it will bea time of reflection based on the nature of the planet, the houses it rules for eachperson. The scenarios will unfold relative to the house position/dignity of the transiting,retrograde planet.

For example, if Mercury goes retrograde in Aries, a person with the Aquarius ascendantwill experience the fifth and eighth house ruler retrograde in the third house. The nativelikely experience confusion around children, students, teachers (fifth House things) aswell as fears and deeper insights (eight house things) into question. They will becompelled to act with courage and impulse (third House/Aries themes) at this time - but

feel hesitant about doing so.
